As I stepped out of the girls' gym, the cool afternoon breeze hit my face, a refreshing contrast to the heat of practice.
Mika and Hanako waved goodbye as they headed off together, leaving me to walk alone. But as I rounded the corner toward the main path, I was greeted by a familiar sight.
"Oi, Yuki! Over here!" Atsumu's unmistakable voice called out, loud and confident as ever.
Standing just outside the gym were Atsumu, Osamu, and Suna. Atsumu had his bag slung over one shoulder, Osamu stood casually with his hands in his pockets, and Suna leaned lazily against the wall, scrolling through his phone.
"Didn't think you'd ever come out," Atsumu teased, grinning as I approached. "Takin' your sweet time, huh?"
"Some of us have to cool down properly after practice," I shot back with a smirk, adjusting my bag.
Osamu chuckled, shaking his head. "Ignore him. He's just mad 'cause Kita told him his serves were sloppy today."
"Oi, shut it!" Atsumu snapped, glaring at his brother. "That was one time!"
Suna glanced up from his phone, his expression unreadable as usual. "And it was pretty funny."
I laughed at their bickering as we started walking toward the school parking lot. The casual banter between them felt natural, and I was beginning to enjoy their company more with each passing moment.
"So, how was your first official practice as captain?" Osamu asked, glancing over at me.
"Intense, but good," I replied. "The girls worked hard. We've got a long way to go, but I think we'll get there."
"That's the spirit," Atsumu said, giving me a thumbs-up. "Might even make it to nationals one day, yeah?"
"Let's focus on winning some games first," I said with a laugh.
As we reached the parking lot, I pulled my keys out of my bag, clicking the unlock button on my BMW. The sleek car lit up in response, and I noticed Suna's head tilt slightly as he stared at it.
"Nice car," he commented, his voice calm but intrigued.
"Thanks," I replied. "It's my baby."
As I unlocked the doors, Suna suddenly asked, "Hey, can you drop me off? My ride bailed on me."
Atsumu groaned dramatically. "Suna, you're such a mooch."
"It's fine," I said with a smile. "Hop in."
Atsumu and Osamu exchanged glances before Osamu called, "Dibs on the front seat!"
"Hey! No fair!" Atsumu protested, but Osamu was already sliding into the passenger seat. Atsumu reluctantly climbed into the back, grumbling under his breath, while Suna silently took his place beside him.
