The night was awfully cold.
Cold enough that he could even feel it through the warmth of his furry coat.
But the bustling crowd in front of him and the honking vehicles passing by seemed to pay no heed to this change at night.
For him, whenever and wherever he looked, the humans always appeared to be in a hurry.
They padded along from one street to another with ease, sometimes talking with their companions and sometimes plugging in a white hook thing inside their ears. Some of them dared to even ride that outrageous box-like thing on wheels that ran around trying to kill people off and puffed out ridiculous fumes that made him sick to his tiny bones. The humans, again, never seemed to notice it or bother with it.
Today by far, was the shittiest day in his small life. He had failed to find even a small scrap of food. The humans probably didn't want him to linger around them for more leftovers from now on. All of them were real liars, only babying him when they felt like it and completely ignoring his existence at other times.
The more the night stretched on, the colder it got. Adding to that, the sky decided to curse him with a drizzle. His whole body was starting to feel numb. The cold and hard ground seemed to sink beneath him and whatever warmth was left in his body seemed to evaporate into the thin air. He couldn't even move his limbs to find something warm to snuggle into.
Just when he thought that this would be the last he would see of the world, the crunching noise of footsteps made him look up.
A huge human was towering over him, shadowing whatever light the street light above was emitting. The figure did not move for a while but that small amount of time felt like years to him. His chest started throbbing for some reason, yet he also felt calm in their presence.
This human was weird, he could tell, much weirder than the others. Moreover, this one was hesitating to do something. What, he did not know, as long as they gave him something to munch on and moved on as though he never existed, things would be fine. He would never see them and his mundane life would continue as it usually did.
The human huffed before moving slightly. And with that movement, something fell on the ground with a huge thud. He flinched.
"Ugh, this damn thing, why does it have to be so heavy?" The human murmured before bending to pick up the now soiled bag on the ground.
"Great, now I have to hear his nagging about me messing up his stuff."
The rustling of the clothes as the human swung the bag back on their back sounded like the wind on the darkest of nights. The human was now gazing at him and slowly crouched down before him. Their eyes seemed dark and menacing to the point he felt his gut twist in horror. The serene feeling he had felt earlier all but vanished. His wish to have some food in his system was the last thought in his mind right now.
He had to hurry and escape from this beast!
Just in time for his escape, his legs decided to finally cooperate with him. As soon as he attempted to flee, he could no longer find herself running.
He was dangling in the air, the ground far beneath him. It was the sight of his legs in front of him that set him off.
"Woah, calm down u furry shit, I'm not here to kidnap you! Can't you see I'm helping you?"
The human's voice sounded soft but rough on the edges. And very annoyed.
...it was just a human female?
"If it weren't for Yamagishi I wouldn't even be here, so stop moving around. You're going to be in a good place anyway."
The woman scrunched her eyebrows and brought him closer to her face.
