"Have you figured anything out yet Recovery Girl?" Deku asked the school nurse.
"No, nothing yet." She answered as she was observing One For All's records on her computer. "This sort of thing usually takes a while, and I'm no expert on it."
"I see..." Deku replied. He looked down at his hand. After everything that had been happening with Uraraka, he almost forgot about his vision. He didn't experience another one since that night, but he was still concerned. He didn't want his Quirk to stop working or to go out of control and hurt someone."Here. Put this on." Said Recovery Girl, who was holding what looked like a stethoscope that was hooked to the computer.
"What's that?" Deku asked.
"It's a monitor designed specifically for Power and Emitter-type Quirks." Recovery Girl explained. "Just stick it to your chest and it will hopefully give us a deeper look into what is happening with One For All." "Okay. Sure." Deku replied, taking it. As Recovery Girl walked back over to the computer, Deku started undoing the buttons on his shirt and stuck the monitor to his chest, around the area of his heart. He looked over to Recovery Girl, ready to continue.
"Alright. Now what?" He asked.
"Just channel your Quirk through your body." She explained. "Not too much now. Around 5% should be enough."Deku took a breath, placed his hand on his heart and began to focus.
'One For All: Full Cowling.' His power started surging through his body. He felt calm using such a small amount, but he was still unsure of what could happen if he were in a situation where he needed to use more power. It was fine in the fire, but one time wasn't enough for Deku to consider his Quirk to be safe to use again.
"Oh my goodness!" Recovery Girl exclaimed, catching the boy's attention.
"What?! What is it?!" He asked. Recovery Girl moved her chair over a tad so Deku could see that there was a big spike in his Quirk's energy."Uuuuuuhhhh?! Is that bad?!" Deku asked, scared out of his wits.
"No, it shouldn't be." Recovery Girl replied. "It is quite the surge, but it seems stable. Still, I recommend being cautious moving forward."
"Oh. Okay." Deku replied, feeling a bit calmer. As he removed the monitor and redid his buttons, he started getting lost in thought.
'The first user mentioned something about my ability to use 20% of One For All's power. My last threshold before that was 8%. That's a 12% increase. Maybe the size of the jump compared to last time is the cause?' He shook his head and closed his eyes. 'No. If that were the case, this probably would have happened sooner.' He looked down at his hand as concern grew in him again.'Don't be afraid. You are not alone.'
Remembering the first user's words put him at ease. Whatever might have been happening to him, the thought of having people there for him was a comforting one.
"You poor, poor boy." Said Recovery Girl. Izuku looked at her.
"Did you say something?" He asked.
"That fire. Your friend losing her parents. And now One For All is acting up. So much is happening to you in such a short amount of time." Deku turned back around and looked at his hand.
"Yeah. And I've had a lot to think about." He solemnly replied.
"Yes, I'm sure you have." Recovery Girl smiled a bit. "Try not to stress yourself too much about it though. Otherwise, you'll look like me by the time you're twenty." That comment took Deku off guard a bit and he chuckled.
"Yeah. I'll keep that in mind."After that, Deku was approved to leave, so he put his tie, bag and blazer back on and stood up.
"Thanks for the checkup. I'll be leaving now." He told her.
"Take care Midoriya. And it was nice to see you for something other than a broken bone." She jokingly replied.
"Hehe. Right." Deku chuckled. As he walked over to the door and was about to open it, Recovery Girl spoke again.
"Before he retired, All Might tried to shoulder all of his responsibilities by himself." Deku stopped and looked back at the nurse. "I know you admire the man and aspire to be like him, you must even feel obligated to due to inheriting his Quirk, but please don't make the same mistakes he did. Never forget that you will always have people to support you when you need it." Deku was silent for a bit, then he smiled.
"Right. Thank you." He simply replied. Without another word, he left the room to return to the dorms.
