You squeezed your eyes shut as you meandered down the hall toward your room. You had no idea what came over you to cause such misbehavior, but what was done was done. There was nothing more that could be done besides cleaning up and heading to where you were expected.
You had imagined the shower would be one way to wash away your sins, but, unfortunately, you felt just as horrible as you were before washing up. You were at least okay for the time being, but you knew with your mentality the guilt would slowly eat you up inside until it could no longer be hidden.
"Y/N," Chisaki looked in your direction, halting the conversation he was having with a maskless Kurono.
"About time," Kurono grumbled, "took you long enough." You rolled your eyes at him and continued your stride into the room, keeping calm wits about yourself despite your earlier actions.
"We've finally succeeded," Chisaki walked over to meet you, gently picking up your hands in his with a warm look in his eyes from behind his black mask. "It's not like the incomplete drug that only took about a day to recover from. We've had it tested...it's worked more than two weeks on the patient we've been observing."
"I didn't know you had someone else here..." you looked around to see if you saw anyone other than a sleepy Hiru who appeared to be stirring while attached to the table.
"Not here, our 'patient zero' was one of our own. He has been let go to lead a normal life with regular check-ins," Chisaki corrected you with calm eagerness, "and he's doing just fine."
"That's...incredible," you were at a loss for words. The moment you had waited so long for, worked so hard for was so close you could taste it.
"However it will take time and money," Kurono added before your hopes could get too high, "it took a month to make five bullets."
"And it's because we're doing it ourselves in these awful facilities," Chisaki nodded toward his assistant and let go of your hands. "We'll arrange for a more suitable environment. With the help of the League and with All for One gone...now's our chance." He paused for a moment before looking back to you. "Y/N, I called you down here to see if you...wanted to take it now. We have five bullets and I wouldn't mind using one on you if you'd like your quirk erased."
You knew the moment was coming. You knew it was only a matter of time before they had developed the permanent version of the "cure." But for some reason you hesitated. It was as if seeing Shigaraki, the only piece of your past that mattered, had put you into some sort of limbo with the decision.
"Unbelievable," Kurono hissed under his breath, rolling his eyes as Chisaki offered the drug to you.
"Do you have something you need to say, Chrono?" Chisaki turned to his assistant once more, staring at him eagerly and angrily.
"You'd really let her give up such a powerful and useful quirk? You understand that when the time comes, you'll want the hallucination quirk. You'll need it." Kurono explained, thinking toward the potential future when the Hassaikai would once again come to power.
"It's not up to me," Chisaki said gently. The way his tone shifted when discussing you got under Kurono's skin.
"What happened to seducing her to get her to stay?!" Kurono exposed the plan you had discovered already, expecting it to be some kind of bombshell that could ruin your relationship with the boss.
Chisaki stared at his assistant seriously as he went on. "It's almost like you don't care about the Hassaikai anymore, or the mission you've worked so hard to develop! What happened to the Overhaul we all know and love?! It's like she's killed the old you and brought in some kind of sappy replacement!"
