It was only a little past 5pm when Hazel finally got home after her previous 12 hour shift. She appreciated having some more free time to have a personal life. This has all since starting her fellowship, leading the diagnostic team. Her days were extremely busy, however it was all worth it because she got to spend more time with her favorite person in the world. Who was after all, her best friend and husband, Bryce Lahela

Hazel got out of her car, and headed to the door of the quaint house her and her spouse shared. Meanwhile above, the white flakes of snow were gently falling from the sky, painting the landscape a picturesque white. Wrestling with her purse as she headed towards the door, Hazel tried to find the house key whilst fighting her ever numbing fingers. After making it inside, Hazel sat her bag down on the counter. Finally glad to be home, and out of the biting cold air, she headed for the living room. Hazel rubbed her cold hands together trying to warm up as she went. She sat down on their pristine brown sofa with it's warm inviting cushions, grabbed her favorite fuzzy blanket, and bundled up. No longer than she sat down, she suddenly heard another car pull into the driveway. Hazel got up, and left her cozy cocoon to see who it was. As she pulled back the silky curtains and peered out of the chilled window. She attentively gazed outside at what was a red and white sports car.  Hazel coyly grinned and instantly felt elated, as she knew who was driving.

She met Bryce at the door and opening it for her favorite scalpel jockey before she greeted him like always, "Soooooo, was your day?" Hazel asked with a smile. She had no clue about his days anymore, since he was on the surgical floor so much more now. This is all after starting his fellowship with cardio thoracic surgery as well.
"It was great!" he exclaimed, "We got to watch Tanaka do a triple valve replacement!"
Hazel listened admirably, admiring how much he loved medicine, and how his soft brown eyes always lit up when he talked about something he liked.
It was one of the main bright points of her day. Seeing her loving husband, and listening to him go on about what he loves most.

They moved to the couch, and Hazel and Bryce both got under the giant fuzzy blanket from before. Then they lovingly continued their conversation. He chatted on about surgery for a while, the whole time Hazel listening, and Bryce showing his admiration for his passion.

"So how about you Dr. Lahela?" Bryce said teasing her, winking as he spoke.

"It was long, nothing too interesting. We just had a BUNCH of patients all day. Nothing outstandingly wild, the closest to that though would have to be a guy in his 50s who's had sudden inset BIDD."

"Ohhh I think I know that one! Isn't that where you feel like your limbs feel alien, and shouldn't be there?" Bryce asked Hazel.
"Yeah! It is, how did you know that?" Hazel curiously asked.
Bryce laughed as he spoke. "It was something from med school that stuck with me, my friends and I had to do a report on strange medical conditions for a class. Believe it or not, we chose that for our project."
"Wow, I had no clue. I had to go through dozens of medical journals to find matching symptoms so I diagnose him today!" Hazel said.

They both laughed at the irony and turned on the TV. "Would you want to watch something before bed?" Hazel asked Bryce. "Sure," he said, "but I'm so exhausted I don't know if I can finish a movie, or do what we normally do during our *movie time*." Hazel belly laughed, because of course, Bryce would air quote at that. "That's completely fine, I'm exhausted too, not to mention it's still snowing out. Which doesn't help me being sleepy either." She spoke out. "I just want to spend some more time with you and unwind." Her voice definitely softer, as her day was catching up with her.
She cuddled up to Bryce, laying on his shoulder as he put his arm over her, as he rested his own head on hers. Hazel looked up only with her eyes, just wanting to see his beautiful face. She looked back at the screen soundly, for no matter what happens at work. She always feels better being next to him.

She savored this special time when they could both relax, feeling the heat pour off of him and onto her. Making her cozy cocoon even cozier. Then not even a few minutes into some random show she put on, they had both drifted off to sleep, laying against one another. Sleeping soundly, as the snow storm raged on. All was right in the world.
