"Ava, come on do we really have to do this right now!?"

"Yes, yes we do because you forgot to do the laundry and now all my socks are dirty!"

Before my roommate got a chance to respond, I turned around and punched one of the guys attacking me in the face. Most likely breaking his nose.

"Well, you forgot to do the dishes!" I argued back.

"No. I did them yesterday. It was your turn!" She yelled back, probably blowing my eardrum.

I pulled the small knife I kept up my sleeve out and quickly turned around stabbing the guy who was coming at me from my left in the side.

"You never took the trash out!" I yelled back.

"That...is true." She said after a minute.

"See? I'm not the only one." I said back, holding back laughter.

"Yeah yeah whatever. Can we just finish up here? I have class in the morning and I can't miss this test."

"I know I'm trying my best! There's just a lot of them, Ava!" As I was talking some bulcky guy came barreling towards me. I quickly stepped out of the way and the guy ended up running into a wall. I elbowed the guy on my right in the face. I darted out from under the arms of someone trying to grab me. I started running at full speed not stopping for anything or turning around to see if anyone was following me.

After what felt like years of running, I turned down an alley and saw Ava standing there waiting for me.

"Did you get it?" I could here the anxiety in her voice as she asked me.

"Do dogs chase squirrels?" I asked, sarcasm in my voice.

She rolled her eyes at me and said, "Let me see it then."

I fake gasped, "Do you not trust me? I'm offended." I took the backpack I had been wearing off and opened it up.

"See? It was super easy too. I mean who leaves something this valuable just laying around?" I asked, rolling my eyes.

"Easy? Do I need to remind you, you had to break into a high profile gang storage facility, find the computer and then get back out without getting noticed. Which by the way, you didn't do too well at. This also took months of planning on my part."

"Yeah easy." I said, smirking slightly.

"You know what, let's just go home. I'm exhausted and you stink." Ava said exasperated.

"You're the boss amigo!"

"It's amiga and you're right I am the boss."

I laughed and looped our arms together. As we started walking back to our apartment, I couldn't help but think about the night it happened. The night I lost everything.
