Chapter 1
It was a normal day for the fruit basket bunch. Allie Apple, Perry Pear, Barbara Banana and Olivia Orange were planning out Ollie Orange’s funeral. Every time one of the Fergusons eats one of the fruit basket buddies, they make a funeral for them. But there were special things about the basket buddies. One, they could talk. Two, they could move. Three, they were eternal. They never rot, or get moldy and if they do get bruised, they would heal just like if we get bruised.
“Perry! Barabra! Will you please fetch me the flower vase!?” Asked Allie.
“We can’t.” replied Perry. “We are trying to comfort Olivia.”
“He was so young!” Olivia sobbed. “Why did she have to take my brother!?!”
“I don’t know!” yelled Barbara. She was getting very annoyed with Olivia.
“Well I need the vase. So someone get it, now. I can’t hold the roses any longer. The thorns are poking me.” Allie said.
“Well than try comforting Olivia.” Barbara replied in an annoyed tone. That made Olivia sob even louder.
“Well than go open the door for the bitty berries to help us. They are probably bored just sitting there in the icebox.” requested Perry.
“Yeah, like they would want to come set up the funeral.” said Barbara. Barbara was one of those people that got annoyed very easily. Right now was one of those moments.
“Barbara,” said Allie,”It’s not that bad. The bitty berries can handle the pressure of getting the funeral done in thirty minutes.”
“And what do they have left to do?” Barbara was determined to not let her win the argument.
“Set up the empty coffin, set up the flowers, water the flowers, polish the table, give the message that everyone needs to come, make the boulatins…”
“Ahem,” Barbara interrupted.
“Fine, They may not be able to handle the pressure, But it would not kill them if I made them help me.” replied Allie. “Perry, would you let the bitty berries out of the storage box?”
“Sure.” said Perry. Perry is one of those people who you just want to be around. She is a good listener and always is very positive and considerate.
“YAY!!!” The bitty berries screamed as they ran out and about the giant kitchen. There were 18 in all. They were trouble! If you could handle them, it was a miracle. And Allie was the expert at it. She knew just the secret. And it was a wonderful idea.
“Hey bitty berries.” She called.
They all ran over to her and started screaming. “I have a surprise for you all.” She whispered. They started screaming again. “If you all finish setting up the funeral, I will turn up the ice box so that you all can go skating.” They were overjoyed and got right to work.
“That is how it is done.” Allie told the bunch. They were all stunned.
“How did you get them to do that?” they asked, mezmorized.
“Well, let’s just say that the bitty berries will get to go skating tonight.” She replied, really proud of herself.
“Why do you keep on letting them skate when they do your chores?” Asked Olivia. Still crying. Well she had felt better now that all of the bitty berries were running around getting the stuff done. It was really fun to watch them work. They looked like little ants trying to lift stuff and get it on the table.
