Chapter 23 - War of Succession Part 4: A Moment of Rest

The Town Mansion

With the enemy in retreat and the enemy commander confirmed dead. The knights and their allies let out cheers of victory. For the first time since the war of succession started the princess has finally won what could be considered her first real victory against her brother's forces.

Arden issues orders to begin clean up operations then walks over to Tesla who was conversing with his comrades.

"Thank you once again. Without your assistance we would have been overwhelmed and killed."

He glanced at the weapon that Tesla held. It was different from the last time he saw. There was small tube attached to it this time.

"Such a strange and powerful weapon. Perhaps..."

It was then that that Princess Meridith appears interrupting his thoughts.

"Princess!" he says noticing her presence.

Princess Meridith waves her hand signaling for him to be at ease.

Then she spoke to Tesla, "It seems that your strength was not a lie. As such I would like to invite and your friends to join us in celebration of our victory. Please return here in 2 days. Until then take this time to rest I'm sure you're tired from all the fighting. I'll send Arden with you to make arrangements to stay at the finest Inn in town."

"Thank you princess" Tesla said gratefully.

Before he leaves he tells one of the girls to stay and help with the wounded.

As the Princess watched as Tesla left she looked about her surroundings.
Her heart ached with sadness and pain.
Bodies lay littered everywhere. And many are wounded from both sides. She'd seen the battlefield multiple times but even so she never got used to it. Though she knew it was necessary to take back her kingdom she wished there was a way to avoid more death. Her eyes turn back to look at a retreating Tesla. Perhaps with his power he could bring about swift end to this war.

Arden looks at the princess "Should we win this war we should discuss having him join our army or at the very least how to make the weapons that he and his comrades wield."

He then hurried after Tesla.

Meridith doesn't answer. Would someone of his caliber really want to become a mere soldier?

Leiam was of a different opinion.

"That boy is dangerous." He says flatly.

Meridith wasn't sure what Leiam meant but the way she saw it was he was the key to her Kingdom.

Tesla is deep in thought as Arden escorted him to an inn that he and his friends would stay at. He would like to put an end to this war as quickly as possible. So in order to do that he'd need to make new weapons. Something that kill large waves of enemies.

"Internet..." he called.

With that he began to formulate his plan. He would present it to the Princess in 2 days.

Arriving at the inn Arden gets them settled and after saying goodbye leaves. Everyone was tired after the long journey and fighting so they all retire to their rooms. Tesla then sits on the bed and closes his eyes and begins to formulate metal with magic. He makes make a few parts with his remaining energy before going to sleep himself.

A Retreating Soldier

A soldier runs at full speed through the woods. He was sweating heavily and breathing hard his thoughts going wild.
