One whole year later, and after Kami helped to revive the Namekian people, which allowed them to use the Namekian dragonballs once again to bring back Raditz and revive Nappa, they then try to revive Kakarot. However, the wish fails, as Kakarot never died, so instead they use the wish to grant the Namekians, and Earth, a bountiful harvest. Kakarot returns to the planet dressed in new clothes, and with a brand new ability. The ability of Instant Transmission. Over the next week or so, he teaches it to the others.

Several weeks later, a new person arrives in a machine, and seeks out Vegeta and Goku. However, when he arrives, he finds 3 more Saiyans than normal. "Oh dear...this is uh...this isn't right." The person introduces themselves as Trunks, Vegeta's son from the future...well, A future. Future Trunks then explains a few things, mainly the oncoming threat of two androids, whose power is beyond crazy. But, before the team can prepare for the next threat, everyone senses something evil coming. The energy they sense is the tyrannical Frieza!

He survived Namek exploding and was rescued by a Frieza force ship. He was changed and revived as the horrible Robo-Frieza. Future Trunks decides to prove his worth and takes out Robo-Frieza, all of his troops, and King Cold with relative ease. Over the next day or so, Trunks prepares everyone for the two androids...only to be blind-sided with reports of attacks across the planet on all the major cities, except for West City, since everyone was there.

The team decides to split up, with Nappa, Raditz, and Vegeta checking out the other cities. Kakarot remains behind to keep his city and family safe. Raditz interacts with them first, learning quickly about the energy absorption, and returns to the others with this information. Kakarot then has the heart virus, and thanks to everyone's help, he takes his medicine and recovers perfectly. Gero watches Vegeta ruin 19, and flees to wake 17 and 18. "No, he's going to awaken the others!" Future Trunks is very worried at this point.

The twins awaken and kill Gero before the blast doors are blown wide open. The team sees 17 and 18, and the twins flee with Android 16's case. After the twins wreak some havoc, it's time to try and take out Kakarot. After waking up 16, 17 runs into Piccolo and Nappa, and begins a fight with Piccolo. Though with Nappa at his side, it's a tougher fight for 17, but he's still pulling ahead due to his infinite stamina, and Nappa's older age.

Before Nappa runs out of energy, a new being named Cell arrives, and puts out Piccolo, then Nappa goes down by the surprise Solar Flare and a dirty attack. 16 steps up and is on the same ground as Cell, but Cell outsmarts 16, and surprises 17, absorbing him! 18 and 16 flee, taking Nappa and Piccolo with them. While this is all happening, Trunks and Vegeta have been in the Hyperbolic Time Chamber training up together.

The two exit, and hear what happened to Piccolo and Nappa. Vegeta, cocky with his new power, rushes out to meet the new Cell. Semi-perfect Cell is surprised by Vegeta's power, and he gets whooped, but he uses Vegeta's ego and power to trick him and flee. Cell gets 18, and Perfect Cell is born. Vegeta is still too cocky and gets crushed as per normal, and Cell flies off to create the Cell Games.

The team goes through the ringer of training, but with only 10 days, they can't get far. Bulma, meanwhile, ends up creating a serum to help Nappa get his stamina back in a pinch. She's working on something better, but this will do for now. He accepts gratefully.

The Cell Games come around, and the team is ready and fully trained. Hercule tries his hand and gets beat as usual, while the cameras stay rolling. Everyone else tries their hands, Nappa putting up a strong fight, but saving the serum, Raditz going strong and even showing his Kaioken he learned while in Otherworld, Vegeta also getting his licks in. Gine, however, bows out of her turn, for a reason. She knows she can't win, and gives her turn to her grandson Gohan. Kakarot goes before him however, and does his usual shtick.

He forfeits, stating "I know I can't beat you...but there's someone that can. Gohan, get in here and fight." Gohan goes in, with Gine's blessing, and a hug for reassurance. Gohan fights his heart out, and just as it looks like things are dire, Kakarot pulls out a Senzu bean, but Gine stops him from throwing it, telling him not to interfere.

Gohan, when things look most dire, pulls a sneak attack and punches 18 out of Cell with a cheap shot, forcing Cell to activate his self destruct. Raditz's quick thinking saves everyone, but he sacrifices himself, teleporting Cell away to King Kai. This really upsets Gine, but she understands he did it to save his nephew, her grandchild.

Cell revives himself from a single cell, and returns, far stronger than ever. Gine's rage gets the better of her upon seeing the monster return, and she fires into SS2! Everyone's surprised by this, but her tear filled rage is more than enough to force Cell to think, and create the Cell Jrs! This is what prompts Hercule to throw 16's head to Gohan.

He gives the same speech, and gets destroyed, making Gohan fly into that SS2 rage, fighting alongside Gine. Two peace loving warriors, thrown into blind rage by one monster. They are far stronger than him, and the Jrs. They destroy them, but one manages to slip away and hide. As one final desperate act, Cell charges his Solar Kamehameha. The grandmother and grandson charge their own, and fire off against Cell. He's pushing hard, but Vegeta helps out and surprises Cell with a ki blast, drawing his attention away. Finally, Raditz calls from Otherworld to tell them to fire at full power. Cell is perfectly obliterated, Gohan passes out, and Gine catches him. She powers down to base, exhausted. Nappa brings over that serum and gives it to the two of them, letting them get their stamina back, and helping Gohan rest easier.
