So I never thought that the boy I grew up with would be famous. Especially not in some world wide crazy boy band. Yes, as you can see I'm talking about THE Niall Horan of One Direction.

• BACK STORY TIME!! •

So basically I was born and raised in London, England. My life was perfectly fine. I was a perfectly healthy little 5 year old living in my own little world, playing barbies, having tea parties with my imaginary friends. I was all happy and life was great. But it all changed before my eyes.

My parents started fighting and yelling at each other. Every night my dad would come home drunk. My mum would scream and yell at him. They would start fights about things I never understood as a child. But I did understand that it was getting worse every night. I cried myself to sleep most of the time.

One night my mom came into my room, her eyes where puffy and she had tears streaming down her face. It was extremely late at night, but I had stayed awake listening to the fight going on downstairs.

"Layla, get your stuff were l-leaving." She says wiping tears off her face.

"But mummy where are we going?" I ask climbing out of my bed with my teddy bear clutched in my arms.

"I'm not sure baby, but we're leaving soon so hurry." She says walking out of my little pink bedroom and shutting the door behind her. I walk over to my closet and pulled out my pink sparkly barbie suitcase. I wasn't quite sure what to pack so I put all my barbies and stuffed animals into it along with my blankie.

After I stuffed it all in there my mum came in to check on me.

"Layla, what's in that bag?" My mum asked me making her way over to me

"Um my toyys..." I say standing up and let her look in the bag. She sighs and leaves for a minute and comes back with a big duffle bag that she starts cramming all my clothes into. Once everything that we needed was packed we loaded it into the car and we started to drive.

"Mummy? Where are we going?" I asked yawning.

"I don't really know, but we'll find somewhere soon." That was the last thing I remembered from that night. But after we left we ended up in a small town, still in England, called Liverpool.

I started Kindergarten there. We lived in a small apartment building while my mom worked

at the super market down the road. I never really made a lot of friends, but I was a strong independent little girl and I didn't really want any.

After about a year of sleeping on a squeaky old pull out couch and cereal and sandwiches, my mum decided we where going to move to Ireland to get further away from our old life.

My mum started job searching and she found a job as a music teacher at a grade school in Mullingar. My mother LOVED music so much, she was really lucky to find that job.

Once she saved up enough money from working and babysitting she finally got us tickets to Ireland.

I had never been on a plane before until then, but I was excited. It was kind of scary but I got used to it easily.

Once we got to Mullingar, we went straight to the school. My

Mum went to her class room while one of the other teachers showed me around the school. Summer break had just started so I had all summer until I started 1st grade. But, the school was HUGE! I thought I would get lost, but everyday my mum and I came to the school so I had lots of time to explore.

Even though the school was gigantic and had many places to hide and play I would always find myself staring out of the big window on the second floor. My mum could always catch me there in a daze lost in the beauty of nature. You could see woods for miles and all the little creatures minding their own business.

Anyway, we lived in a very small apartment the school had provided us with until we could afford a house. We had managed to get us beds over the summer so we wouldn't have to sleep on the couch anymore. Every night I would pray with my mum and then she would sing me to sleep. I loved when she would sing to me. It was beautiful and I would be happy. I never had nightmares when she sang to me.

Later that summer more teachers started coming to the school and would bring their kids. I got along well with one girl. She was my age and she had dark shoulder length wavy brown hair. Her name was Kylie. We played a lot. Since I couldn't afford a lot of toys, she would bring dolls for me and her to play with. Soon we were inseparable and have stayed that way ever since.

Once school started, I had actually liked it. Kylie and I were in the same class. Are teacher was awesome! She was the best teacher I've ever had.

About half way through the year we finally got enough money to get a REAL house. I was so excited because it had been so long since I last lived in a real home. We went house hunting a lot and finally came across the perfect house in a nice neighborhood, and wasn't far from the school.

After about 2 months we bought the house and started to move in about a month later we finished getting all the boxes to the house.

School was pretty awesome. I had made lots of friends. School was honestly fun for me. I liked it a lot. But outside of school I didn't really have any friends.

But one day on a weekend I was unpacking some of the last boxes in my room and I noticed a little blonde boy about my age watching me.

I walked over to the window and pulled it open.

"Hi. I'm Layla. What's your name?" I asked holding out my hand for him to shake.

"I... I'm... I'm uh Niall Horan." He says quietly shaking my hand back.

"Well it's nice to meet you Niall. I guess we're neighbours now." I say smiling.

"Uh yeah I guess so." He says with a cute little smile. We both went back into our rooms and closed the windows and pulling my curtains over the window. Little did I know that started a long friendship that would last forever.
