Kevin looked around his empty room feeling familiar. It wasn't the first time he was attending a funeral. He had done it before, as a kid, when the demon has killed his family. Shaking his head to stop reminiscing about the memory, he got out of his room.
He looked surprised seeing his friends waiting outside the apartment. Amanda looked disheartened with hollowed eyes. It seemed the wave of sadness that suddenly hit the Academy had creeped its way into her as well. Kevin, however, sported a different look. Having spent much time away, he didn't develop the bonds like that of Horton and Stern’s but still paid his respects.
They walked toward the graveyard without saying a word as there was nothing to talk about, nothing worth mentioning. The sky was clean blue, and the sun was shining brightly. After a few minutes of walking, they reached the site of the funeral which was crowded with people.
With many casualties after the incident caused by Monolith, holding an individual funeral for every departed was almost impossible. A massive funeral was organized instead about which Kevin couldn’t decide whether to feel sad or not.
They walked into the graveyard and spotted Ren’s Sister, Nola crying while her mother, Samantha, hugged her tightly, tears silently streaming down from her eyes. They were staring at gravestones pr the grave for Ren Dover present amongst that of the others.
Having lost count of how many people passed by him whom he didn’t recognise, which he honestly didn't even care. He felt mad. What was worse was that he had to stand there being constantly reminded that his friend, Ren had died. He hated this, and was struggling to prevent himself from tearing down.
He failed to hold back those tears and seemed to sob silently.
