SOPHIE POV

"So, as you know we got P1 in quali yesterday so we start P10 today so do what you do best and and get as far up the grid as you can" my race engineer says as I'm waiting for the formation lap to start.

"Will do bossman let's get this win" I reply as we get off the grid to start the formation lap. As I'm lining up in my grid spot i get ready for the 5 red lights to go out

COMMENTATOR POV

"Welcome everybody who have tuned in waiting for the first sprint race but before we get into that lets talk about the pictures everyone has been talking about the last 24 - 48 hours and that is the picture of the current leader of the F2 championship Sophie Harris talking with Jost Capito and leaving the building with him, what do you make of it Alex?2 Alex Jacques asks his co commentator Alex Brundle.

"I think it's interesting to see these two conversing with each other only a couple of days after the announcement that George Russel will be leaving Williams to join forces with his F1 idol Lewis Hamilton, its no secret that Williams and Mercedes have a strong relationship with each other and Sophie being a Mercedes academy driver it would seem logical that she would move their however i have heard rumours that Red Bull reserve driver and former F1 driver Alex Albon could be getting the seat which" Says Brundle

"Well whatever happens in the future i think i speak for everyone here at Formula 2 that Sophie is absolutely deserving of an F1 seat and where that would be, we wont know until the announcement has been made but we wish nothing but success for Sophie in the future after F2 as it seems almost certain now that she will win the championship this season and perhaps that's what Jost is looking at, a proven race and championship winner that can get the most out of the car to boost them upfield" Jacques

"Anyway the cars have left the grid to start the formation lap"

SOPHIE POV

As the 5 red lights go out I get a great start and overtake 3 cars into turn one as we progress through the lap I manage to get another overtake before the ascari chicane putting me into P6 as we go onto lap 2 of sprint race 1.

20 Laps Later

"That's the chequered flag Sophie well done P1 couldn't have asked for more bring the car home and go celebrate on the podium" Jack my race engineer says after i cross the line just ahead of Piastri in second place.

COMMENTATOR POV

"And its the chequered flag and Sophie Harris picking up her 6th win of the season ahead of sprint race 2 later on today and the feature race tomorrow"

SOPHIE POV

The podium celebrations have just finished and I'm now making my way down to the press area for the drivers.

"Sophie what can you tell us about the pictures that surfaced a few days ago with you and and Jost Capito of Williams F1, Will you be racing for Williams next season in F1?" some journalist asks me

"Well myself and Jost were just catching up like we do each race weekend that I attend with F2 because I'm friends with George and was wanting to see how he has been this season and congratulate him and the team for an awesome result at Spa in person, and yes it probably wasnt how George wanted his first F1 podium given the fiasco that was the Belgium GP but a podium is a podium and in motor racing you have to take results however which way they come" i reply

"Given that you have just mentioned the Belgium GP what was your reaction to it and how it panned out" another Journalist asks

"Well i think its obvious what happened in Belgium a couple weeks ago, the rain was horrendous and that cannot be stopped but to send the cars out behind the safety car for 2 laps of "racing" and i use the term racing extremely loosely as we all know it was a farce decision made by Massi to save the FIA and the circuit money from the refunds they would have had to give out because there was no race and the FIA can hide behind the fact that cars were out on track for 2 laps and consider it a race and move on, if they cared about the sports integrity they wouldn't have sent the cars out and abandoned the race and refunded the fans that no doubt spent hundreds if not thousands of pounds, euros or dollars that they have worked so hard for especially after the year before where people were seriously financially hit by the pandemic" i reply
