I stand in front of the mirror and ask myself who I am. Now most people would answer
'You are Jordan Taylor!'
But that's not what I'm talking about. Who is Jordan Taylor? I've been asking myself that for 46 minutes and 21 seconds and I can't come up with anything„Taylor! Come on down, breakfast is ready!" Shouted my mom from downstairs.
We moved to Boston yesterday, away from Texas and the heat. And away from the fact that my dad had died. My mom grieved, we all did. But she ran away like she always did. My father had always told me, „You have your mother's beauty and I'm incredibly happy about that, but what I'm even happier about is your fighting instinct that your mother doesn't have. You face everything even if there is a risk of breaking. You fight.#
My father was the best person I knew and taught me a lot. All my values were my father's wisdom and I am proud of that.
He died of heart disease. He had gotten a new heart but his body just wouldn't accept it despite medication. Without being un-empathetic, I think that was a very big gift. We were able to get used to the idea that in a few months my father would no longer be with us and we still experienced all kinds of wonderful things. I think the worst thing is when a loved one is just ripped out of your life and you have no way to show that person how much you love them. No way to say goodbye and prepare yourself for that pain.
„We're having pancakes, Jo." Says my mom to me as she frantically rummages through the moving boxes.
„Mom, what are you doing?"
„I'm looking for my paperwork, I have to show it to my new boss. Please hurry, I'm afraid you have to take the bus to school today."
„No problem. I don't mind at all sitting between sweaty smelling teenagers jerking off next to me:"
„Oh honey, you're in a good mood again!" my mom smiles at me.
„I just don't feel like going to a new school. New friends and all..."
„Maybe you'll find a cute guy to turn your head." At this, my mom grins at me and winks.
I watch her furtively.
„Oh come on after James last summer it would do you good. He was an ass."
„I know mom but I'm really not in the mood for all that love shit" I said as I bite into my pancake with relish.
„Oh come on Jo. You're 17 years old. Go wild and have some fun! Find some penises and explore your body."
„MOM! I just can't believe you just said that."
"Relax. I was 17 once too, and how I was." She said suggestively again.
„Now please don't get me started on Corbyn again or I'll really puke and that would be a shame about the pancakes."
„Have a great first day at school and bring a boy home!" my mom called out as she was walking outside.
I had to hurry to even catch the bus but still... it pulled away right in front of me. I'm really freaking out. I hate Boston already. I screamed out loud and kicked the wall next to the bus stop.
„What did the wall do to you?" a mocking voice chimes in behind me.
Slowly I turn around and see a red Dodge Challenger with a good looking guy peeking out of it and grinning. Dark brown hair, fluffy and not styled which looks incredibly hot though.
„God shut up Jordan" says the inner Taylor Swift from my head.
„Did you miss the bus, kiddo?" he asked me.
