The loud creak of the hinges filled the halls, and stopped any noise that was coming from the room. I looked on in terror, seeing so many people in one room. Some of them I had seen before, but I don't think I knew their names.

There were only two spots open, on the right side of the head of the table.

Overhaul sat at the very end, waiting.

Chronostasis didn't seem bothered by the crowd as he walked right on in. I followed behind him, trying to ignore the glaring looks from the other people. Each step sounded like a gunshot as I tried to shrink away from existence itself. Finally we reached the end of the table, which was all too long. Chronostasis pulled out a chair and motioned for me to sit. I sat right next to overhaul, Chronostasis sitting next to me.

I barely dared to look up to see who was seated across from me. I... Recognized him...

Its the man with the hat i saw back at home. He must have noticed me staring because he courtly nodded at me. My eyes immediately snapped down to the table. The dark wood was barren, noting had been set out yet, if anything was going to be set out at all.

Maybe they didn't eat together? I mean it looks like it'd be hard with those masks on. Most of them had the weird beak masks on. Thinking about it just made me aware of the cloth on my face. I felt so out of place. Even those who had masks like mine on, had black ones.

Was I really that different?

Thoughts ran through my head like a whirlwind, as the room remained in dead silence. Were they all looking at me? I sure hope not. Do I dare look up to check? what if they were? What then? Would it change anything?

I decide its better to just rip off the bandage and look up. One quick glance told me everything I need to know.

They were.

I felt like a million eyes were fixed on me, every head either slightly or fully turned to me. I wanted to look down again, to try and ignore everyone in the room. The atmosphere was suffocating and I felt the air being sucked out of my lungs as we all continued to sit in silence.

Instead I looked up to Chronostasis, hoping for a saving grace in this ocean of uncomfortable stillness. He, however, was the only one not looking in my direction, instead I could tell his face was pointed beside me, at Overhaul. I decided it would be best to follow his gaze, seeing as he was the only one here I felt like I could really trust...

My eyes flicked to the side, at the most intimidating man in the room. Even though there were people with terrifying appearances, or a threatening air around them, Overhaul had the most power in this room. It wasn't something I could explain, nor did I want to understand, really.

Overhaul's eyes were focused, but watchful, and hyper aware all at the same time. His gaze wasn't pointed to anyone in particular, even me, Which is something I'm grateful for. But the way his eyes swept over the room, like a preying animal was... Unnerving.

So, in order to not catch his hawk like eyes, I pointed my view back down. Wether I was intimidated or just flat out afraid, I couldn't say.

One thing I do know though, is I wholeheartedly wish for this tension to end. The longer we sit here the more it feels like a rubber band being stretched out, pulled and pulled into its thinnest, most unstable form. If this silence doesn't end soon, I think something might snap.

Thankfully, before I made a stupid decision and spoke up, the thick glass like air was shattered.

"I want to start by thanking you all for getting on time." Said the golden eyed man next to me.
