Forbidden Love

Chapter 7

Anna

"Okay, okay. It's my turn!" Maya said excitedly while running to the pinsetter and picked up the bright blue bowling ball. I sat watching her as she threw the ball with concentration. She looked at the ball rolling completely sideways but still crossed her fingers, hoping.

She looked so beautiful standing there. She was wearing black skinny jeans, high-heeled boots and a dark blue, off-the-shoulder shirt. Her black hair was curled, framing her face, and she was wearing her favorite necklace, the one with the little crystal. I just couldn't help staring. I decided right there that I was going to tell her how I felt as soon as I got the chance.

"No, that's impossible. My lucky ball has failed me." she whined, snapping me out of my head. "Don't worry, better luck next time. I also sucked my first few tries and now I'm a pro." Melody assured her. "It's true, she beats me every time" Theo, her boyfriend replied. "I can't help that I'm so amazing." she said, dramatically flipping her hair.

"Does anyone else need to go to the bathroom?" Tori asked. "No, I'm okay" Maya replied. "I do" Camille and Melody said at the same time. "Yeah, me too" Theo added. "Anna?" Tori asked me. "No, I went earlier" I replied. I did actually have to go but this was a perfect opportunity to talk to Maya alone. "Okay, we won't be long" Tori said, then they all left.

"So Maya, could you maybe come here for a second. I need to talk to you about something." I said, nervously fidgeting with my hands. "Yeah of course. What's up, are you okay?" she asked concerned, sitting on the empty chair across from me.

"Yeah, I'm fine, it's not that. Okay, this is hard. Look, I like you, as more than just a friend. I've felt like this for a really long time, but I never said anything because I don't know if you feel the same way. We've been best friends forever, and I really don't want to mess that up, but I can't ignore it anymore. I had to tell you." I said, staring at the floor.

After a few seconds of silence, I started thinking the worst. "I'm sorry, I shouldn't have said that. We could just forget that ever happened." I laughed nervously.

Maya

I couldn't believe what I just heard. "I've liked you for 2 years. At the beginning I thought ignoring it would make it go away, but it didn't. I convinced myself you'd never feel the same, so I never told you because I didn't want to be creepy." I said relieved.

We just looked at each other for a few seconds until she replied "I can't believe this is happening. I'm so happy right now!" she exclaimed, jumping out of her chair and hugging me. It felt so good to get that off my chest. I was the happiest I've been in a long time.

After a while she sat back in her chair. "I'm going to be very forward right now, but will you go on a date with me?" she asked, smiling. "Yes, definitely yes." I answered happily, grabbing her hand under the table.

"We're back. And we got drinks!" Theo announced, while putting the McDonalds cups down. I saw Camille look under the table, and I pulled my hand away from Anna's but it was too late. "Oh my god, Anna. You finally did it!" she exclaimed loudly. "Did what?" I asked. "She asked you out dude!" Okay, this is weird.

"They knew?" I asked, surprised. "Yeah, they've known the whole time." Anna answered. "Wow, how was I so oblivious?" I laughed. "We're very good secret keepers." Tori stated proudly. "Well, except for Camille. I had to bribe her with skittles to stay quiet, twice!" she said dramatically.

"We're really happy for you though." Melody said sincerely. "Now we can go on double dates and stuff." Theo said excitedly. "Except for these two, unless you want to start dating too." he said playfully, pointing at Camille and Tori.

"We're good." Tori laughed. "Yeah, we're good. You're hot, but I wouldn't date you. My heart belongs to Justin, no offense." Camille said "None taken, and I wouldn't date a Justin Bieber fan anyway. Also, you're a Gemini, that doesn't work for me." Tori replied. "You take that back. No one makes fun of my Justin!" she gasped, acting offended. "I will not" Tori said with a smirk.

"Okay guys, maybe we should get back to the game." I said, ending their little banter. "Aren't you losing?" Melody mocked. "I was losing, but screw my lucky ball. Anna's my good luck charm now." I said smiling. "Eww, that's so cheesy." Tori said. "You're just jealous." Anna replied. "Yeah yeah" Tori answered, rolling her eyes.

"Okay, who's ready to win?" Theo asked, punching his fist in the air. "The loser has to buy as all ice cream after this, so you need to get real good real fast Maya." Camille added. "Oh, it's on." I replied.
