He sees me

Charlie dropped to all fours. She was stuck behind a row of slot machines, huddled in the narrow space between the consoles and the wall. Twisted cables and useless plugs were under her feet. She was cornered. The only way out was this thing, and she wasn't fast enough to get past it. Looking at the gaps between the slot machines, she could see the creature circling back and forth. Despite the lack of space, she tried to step back. Her foot caught on the cable. The girl grunted, then bent to carefully free herself.

She heard the clash of metal on metal. The farthest machine staggered and leaned against the wall. The attacker delivered the blow again, smashing the screen, then reached the next console. He smashed them rhythmically, broke the mechanisms, and kept getting closer.

I have to get out of here, I have to! That panicked thought wasn't very helpful.

There was no escape from here. Her shoulder ached and she wanted to cry out loud. It oozed from under a threadbare bandage
blood. It was as if all of her strength was leaving her with her. She shuddered as the console a few feet from her crashed against the wall. He was approaching. She heard the grinding of the gears and the ticking of the servos even louder and louder. When she closed her eyes, she could still see him staring at her.

eyes, tarnished fur, and metal peeking out from beneath the synthetics

body. Suddenly the machine in front of her jerked open. The machine turned over, thrown like a toy. The cables were torn from under her arms and legs, and Charlie slipped and nearly fell. When she regained her balance, she looked up to see the hook dropping ...

WELCOME TO HURRICANE, UTAH

Charlie smirked at the sign and drove on. Though the world on the other side of the mark looked exactly the same as she passed, she felt an impatient anticipation. She didn't recognize anything. On the other hand, it is not surprising that so far from the city center there was only a road and a void.

She wondered what the others would look like. Who are they now. Ten years ago they were best friends. And then it happened and it was all over, at least for Charlie. She hadn't seen either of them since she was seven. They wrote to each other all the time when they were kids, especially Marla, who wrote as she spoke - quickly and incoherently. But as time went on, they grew further apart, letters kept coming in less and less, and the conversations that led to this trip were perfunctory and full of awkward silence. Charlie repeated their names as if to make sure that he still remembers them: Marla. Jessica. Lamar, Carlton ,. John, 1 Mi chael ... Michael was the reason they made this trip. Minçlo ten years since his death, ten years since it happened. Now Michael's parents wanted all of the boy's old friends to gather for a celebration that would fund a scholarship in his name, Charlic knew it was a noble cause, but the reunion had felt rather gruesome to her. She shivered and reduced the cooling in the car, even though she knew it wasn't the cold. Reaching the center, she began to recognize another place

sca - a few shops and a cinema that now advertised the newest one

summer hit. It surprised her and then she smiled to herself.
