Love Will Find a Way

It was the big day, I had trained for this my whole life. I expected to feel nervous but I didn't expect to feel this nervous. I was standing in front of a mirror, a dark red dress on, white flowers trimming it. I had my head down, I was trying to finish my eyeshadow but I was feeling so nauseous. I felt like everyone was depending on me, depending on us.

"Emma, you ready soon?" I looked behind me and saw my partner Carlos Madrian, wearing his red suit along with his worried expression.

"You haven't even finished your makeup?" He grabbed my eyeliner and continued the unfinished work. He must have noticed my heavy breathing, maybe my fast beating heart? But he noticed how nervous I was.

"Hey? You got this, I'll be with you the whole way, we're going to do amazing" He gave me a reassuring smile as he cupped my cheek. I nodded as he smudged the eyeliner, giving it a soft smoky look.

"You have about thirty minutes, think you'll be able to be ready? He took his hand off my cheek and onto my shoulder. I nodded "Yup! I'll be ready" He nodded back at me and left the room. I grabbed the hairbrush and flower clip, working on my hair.

"Ten more minutes" I mumble to myself, finishing the tying of my skates.

I stand up and walk out of the room, watching Joleen Harniss and Lilith Portigule finish up their performance as I feel a familiar hand wrap around my waist.

"They're really good.." I muttered under my breath. Carlos nodded in agreement "They are, but we're better" He smiled as he bumped my hip, earning a smile back at him.

Not long after, I was stepping onto the ice, Carlos on the opposite side of the rink, as I was about to put my foot on, it shot back onto the floor, fear struck my body as I looked over at Carlos, the moment we made eye contact the music began to play.

He smiled at me and all the fear I was feeling before was gone, it was almost like no one else was there, just me and him. Just like when we were practicing.

The music glided through my body as I glided down the ice.

I spun around along with the music, completely forgetting where I was

My eyes closed, I was gliding around the whole arena.

I may not be brave or strong or smart

I began to spin ballet-style in the middle, on beat with the music

Anywhere I go

I'm home

If you are there beside me

I began to get lower to the ground, spinning with one leg out crouched to the ice.

Like dark turning into day

My body shot up as I lifted off the ice.

Somehow we'll come through

Now that I've found you

I started to drift back to the edge of the rink.

Love will find a way

I skating slowly around the rink watching Carlos.
