"You know, you should definitely tell him," said Namjoon thoughtfully, after listening to my narration of my genuine feelings for the CEO, Kim Taehyung. "But, there is a girl who's apparently supposed to be his wife-to-be," I reminded him. "Arranged marriage?" "Yes, Joonie. Gosh, I should have fallen for someone else," I whispered, stirring my orange juice. I decided to consult his opinion on this issue, and we both had discussed thoroughly, forgetting that it was lunch break. "Maybe there's someone else for me, after all," I sighed, concluding with the fact that Kim Taehyung isn't the one for me.
"Yah! Stop lying to yourself! Accept the fact that you like Taehyung, huh?" he said. "Yeah yeah, it's all good saying that, but will his girl who's going to marry him agree? She's beautiful and all, but I'm not that average huh? The bonus factor is, I'm closer to Taehyung than she is. I'm his secretary, right?" I ranted, leaning back in my chair. "And me, who's your partner, isn't bad either. But she's from Lee corporations, and there's some rivalry between us. Pretty ironic, if you ask me. How do you expect the CEO to marry someone from an opponent company?" said Namjoon, pulling his sleeves up. "Screw that rivalry, I want Kim Taehyung." I said defiantly. "Yes yes, you want the CEO, madam. Expensive~" he purred.
"Hey! How about I play that song you wrote huh? Expensive girl? Take it off now-" I started mischievously. "STOP REMINDING ME!" The ever chilled Namjoon was now not-so-chilled. I giggled at his sheepish face. "You're so cute, Joonie!" "Yeah, now you'll compliment me and butter me up so I'll refrain from being mad at you, I know your tricks young lady!" he waved his scrunched up sandwich in the air.
Namjoon was the CEO of another rich company, and he was here so we could settle a collaboration. The objectives of the collaboration were left behind, and right now we were having a heated discussion about culinary skills.
"You're a bad chef!"
"Come teach me then, madam~"
"Gosh! Joonie, you're seriously the best partner ever.""How's the work going?" a voice could be heard from the door. Taehyung sauntered in the room particularly at bad timing. I got up hastily and Namjoon brushed off crumbs which were resting in his coat, and stood up, smiling at his junior. "It's all good, Mr.Kim!" I assured him, as his gaze shifted to our food, and papers and other litter on the table. "Okay then, come into my office. I need to have a few words with you," he said, and swiftly walked away.
Namjoon's baffled expression made me snort in laughter.
"You're screwed, Y/N, what are you laughing at? He knows we were fooling around. He's going to whoop your a-" "Namjoon. He won't do that. I bet it's something about that girl," I said.
"Oh yeah? Do you possess some power, madam? Bet." snickered Joon playfully. "Bet. Kimchi." I said and walked out."Come in!" the ever cheerful voice of the CEO could be heard outside. "Take a seat," he instructed, looking over some official papers. I slipped in a chair, and stared at him. "So, as you know, my-soon-to-be-wife is at Lee Corporations, right?" I nodded.
"My parents have fixed this marriage, and I must say, this match is definitely made in heaven. I don't know her that much, let alone marry her," he explained. "Uh so what do you want me to do-" I stammered, as he came close to me.
"I want you, to be my pretend girlfriend, to convince my parents that I'm not interested in her," he said.
Mind? Confused.
Heart? Dead.
Heartbreak? Definitely.
Hotel? Trivago."Please, Y/N? You're really close to me, you're the only one I trust so much. It's a little request!" He must have been desperate, because he clasped my hands and squeezed them. "Okay okay, Mr.Kim-" "Since when are we so formal, huh? Call me Taehyung, I think I've told you before," he smiled. "There's a party tonight, and I don't have a pretty lady to hold my arm. Can you come with me, Y/N?" he asked, now sitting on his chair, but his grip on my hand was still strong. "Sure, no problem." I agreed. "Great! See you tonight then, Y/N!" he smiled and walked out, leaving me speechless.

"Pretend girlfriend?" asked Namjoon, his eyes going wide. I nodded and sank down on my chair. I returned back to my workplace. "Hey, you alright?" He immediately noticed my mood."Joon, it's just that, I don't want to be his pretend girlfriend. This all really hit me. He just wants to use me, just to get rid of her!" I said.
Speak of the devil, Kim Taehyung entered the room, completely unaware of my frustration.
"Namjoon hyung! Have they invited you to that party?" Namjoon nodded, and Taehyung happily walked out, after flaunting his boxy smile to me as well.
"About your thing, Y/N. I know it's difficult for you, but he's requested you, hasn't he? There's no other lady he's in touch with, currently. You're the only one, Y/N. Shall we go with the flow?" he said and sat down beside me. "Right, Joonie. Thanks a lot," I murmured.
"Well, apart from that, you won the bet! I'll treat you to Kimchi, cheer up!" he smiled, his adorable dimples popping up. I grinned, Joon is adorable.
