"The city of Mistral." Qrow introduces to us.
"Ugh, it's about time." Nora groans. "Who's idea was it to walk again?"
"Well, we did face many obstacles. Broken airships, destroyed settlements." Ren starts to list.
"Oh, and you know, all those people and monsters that tried to murder us." Jaune points out.
My ears twitch with amusement, "Right because who could forget about that?" I say sarcastically.
Ruby waives her hand at our comments, "Pfft, we were fine. Only one of us almost died."
Qrow catches her eye, "Hey."
Nora eyes Ren hard with her hands on her hips, "Hey." He repeats, knowing that comment applies to him too.
After being on the road for so long it's a little strange to be walking around such a densely populated city like this again. It gives me a sort of bitter nostalgia feeling, the last real city we were in is where our friends died.
"So, how much farther to Haven Academy?" Jaune asks Qrow.
The older man looks back at us, "Almost there, but I figured I'd take you kids on the scenic route."
The walk way ends at a set of doors, as if to hold us in anticipation purposely for a few moments longer. Qrow opens the large wooden doors and the light that floods in blinds us momentarily. Ruby runs forward to the edge that overlooks the city, and reminding me that in many ways she still holds onto that youthful wonder of the world.
"Wow!" She breathes, "This is awesome!"
The city below us reminds me of the city outside of Beacon, albeit more rural and traditional.
"It's certainly something." Qrow mutters next to us.
I look down with the younger girl next to me and see a group of venders selling various items, "Oh my gosh, look at all the weapons." She squeals
"Venders here'll sell you just about anything, whether they should or not." He warns his niece.
"They really made the most out of these mountains." Jaune observes.
"Every inch." Qrow agrees. "And stay away from the lower levels. But the higher up you go, the nicer it gets."
"And we are going up." Nora says as she points skyward.
As we make our way up I start to wonder what going to school here is like. If any of our old classmates transferred here after what happened to Beacon. What the Headmaster will be like and if he'll welcome us?
Ruby lets out a sigh as we stop in a courtyard, "We made it."
My ears flick, "Hopefully this means that the hard part is over." I voice my thoughts.
We make our way into the admin building in front of us when I hear Qrow make a noise, like he's feeling nervous or unsure. As we roam the halls of the building I start to realize why he feels that way. No one is here, which shouldn't be the case with how many students are enrolled now.
"Hello?" Ruby calls.
"Hello?!" She repeats.
"Maybe try louder?" Nora suggests, although I can't tell if she's being sarcastic or not.
"There doesn't seem to be anyone here." Ren points out.
"Well, I guess school isn't really in session right now. Maybe that's it." Jaune reasons.
I shake my head, "Even so, wouldn't there at least be some professors? Or students that couldn't go home?"
"No, this isn't right." Qrow mutters, "Come on."
