All my life I have experienced the pain

Of letting someone I love go,

Of someone I love letting me go,

Of heart break and tragic ends;

But none of that could have prepared me

For you.

You are a new vice, fresh from hell;

A divine entity, sent from the God above.

You are a dose of medicine, just what I need;

You are the pills I am addicted to, destroying me from within.

You caught me unaware, when I had my guard down.

You found your way in,

Like a bandit with an agenda all his own.

You infected me like a flesh eating virus,

Causing struggle and horror from within.

You gracefully danced your way in,

A ballet dancer in the Russian Nutcracker,

Seeking to help me along my way.

You gained my trust, were there to comfort me

Like a warm, trusty blanket.

But now you cut and slash your way out,

Using your silver blade to cut through every strand of love I gave you.

Yes, I gave them to you as a gift.

You shoved everything I gave you in my face,

Left me wondering why.

"The abyss of heaven

Hath swallowed up thy form"

Like a waterfowl flying from the eyes of the awe-struken poet.

But now you let me down slowl, calmly, subtly,

Like a author carefully choosing their words.

I gave you my eveything,

And you held it like a golden orb in your responsible, loving hands,

Left me wondering why

You held it so close to you,

Cared so much about me,

Like no one else ever has.

In the end, you ran away from me

Just like everyone has before you.

This not just about you,

But you are a major part.

You are the vice and the angel;

The alleviating medicine and the addictive pill;

You are the stealthy bandit, the elegant dancer;

The lethal virus and the warm blanket;

You are the wander waterfowl and the articulate author.

Above all else, though,

You are a rose by another name,

And you are just as sweet.

You've reached the end of published parts.
