Chapter 23: A Long Day

{Avery's POV}
I wake up and it's 9 am. OMG. I hurry and jump out of bed. I quickly rush over to Kiki.
"WAKE UP! We're LATE FOR SCHOOL!" I scream. Then she checks the time and jumps out of bed. I quickly run into the shower.
*knock* Someone knocks at the door.
"Yes?" I say.
"Sweetie. I exempt you guys from school today. Because of what happened." Dad says.
"Oh ok thanks." I say.
Well I'm already in the shower. Since I don't have school today. I take a 30 minute shower. I get out and lotion myself. Then I change into a pink cami that says "I Have Nothing To Wear", blue jeans, a blue jean jacket, with black combat boots.
I let my hair fall. Then I realize my hair looks way too flat. So I take out Kiki's curling iron and curl it at the ends.
Next I walk into the bedroom and see Kiki on her bed sleeping. Should I wake her up? No. She had a long day "yesterday". I grab my phone, wallet, and light pink cashmere purse. Then I head downstairs. I open the fridge and grab a muffin. Then I head out. I don't exactly know where I'm going but I just need some time to myself. After I walk for about 5 minutes I see a park. I go onto the swing and just hang there for a while.
After I sit there for about 10 minutes I get a text. I check my phone and it's a text from Kiki.
Kiki- Hey. I woke up and you weren't here. Just checking to see if u ok.
Then I text back.
Avery- Yes I'm fine thanks for worrying about me "mother". Lol😋
Kiki- Lol. So where are you? Dad told me that he needs to talk to all three of us before he leaves for work.
Avery- I'm at a park I found. I just needed to clear my head. And what time should I get back?
Kiki- Cool. I hope your head's cleared because he goes to work at 10:30 am. It's 10 now.
Avery- Kk. See YA soon💕
Kiki- Peace💕👋✌️🍕
Avery- Why pizza?
Kiki- Pizza is good.
Avery- Lol😋🍕
After I get up and start walking. Ten minutes later I'm home. I'm home.
Once I get home I see Dad, Jazzy, and Kiki all in the living room.
"Sorry I'm late." I say. I don't wanna tell them where I was or why I was there.
"It's fine. Have a seat please." Dad says. He seems a bit off. Oh well. I sit down next to Kiki.
"We have some things we need to discuss." Dad starts.
"We haven't exactly gone over rules for you guys, and Kiki this is also for you. So there is some rules you need to follow.
Rule #1: Don't be out past 12:30 A.M. on weekends. On school days do not be out past 9.
Rule #2: If you want to leave this house you must tell me or your mom where you are going and when you will be back.
Rule # 3: You must have good grades, which means no C's or you will loose some privileges such as phone privileges.
Rule #4: No lying. Girls we trust you very much. So please don't lie to us.
Rule #5: And last but not least, no boyfriends, unless we approve. " Dad says. Rules 1-4 I'm good. But when dad says rule 5 Kiki and I exchange looks. Since Kiki and I are really close we know what we are thinking. We're thinking about Nash and Shawn. Oh gosh. This is gonna be an issue.
"Ok. Are you guys clear on the rules? Any questions?" Dad says.
"Ok good. Well I need to talk to you guys about something serious, a couple things. So you guys already know how your mother was in a car crash. Yes. The bill came in the mail yesterday. So when we got home last night I looked at it. The bill is very high. So we are a little bit low on money right now. And as you know, we get most of our money from your mother's job. But she cannot work right now. I don't want you girls to worry. We will figure something out. But I want you all to know I love you very much." Dad says.
I begin to worry. What's gonna happen to us? Am I gonna have to live the way I lived in the homeless shelter. Then I push that thought out of my head.
"What else did you have to tell us?" I say.
"Ok. Another thing I found in the mail. Ok. There is no easy way to say this. But we got a letter from the adoption center. Avery, your form for us adopting you was disapproved. So they want us to take you back-." Dad starts but I cut him off.
"What! No. I'm not going back to that horrible place. I say and stand up.
"Avery please calm down and let me finish." Dad says calmly.
"NO! THEY ARE GONNA KEEP ME THERE IN THAT PLACE FOREVER! I'M NOT GOING BACK NEVER AND YOU CANT MAKE ME. I FINALLY HAVE A HOME AND YOU'RE JUST GONNA KICK ME OUT!" I scream and run upstairs to my room. Once I enter I slam the door. Kiki and Jazzy seemed kind of scared because I've never yelled like that before. But whatever I don't care I'm never going back there! I lock the door and slide down on it. I put my head between my knees and just cry.
