I sit at the table, trying to distract from the horrifying thoughts of my past. Sometimes it feels like I relive them.
My husband, Aba, comes through the door. Now you see, we met when we were in high school. Back then we had a lot of struggles but we stuck together. I never would've thought I would marry the boy ten years later.
"You're thinking again, aren't you?" Said Aba
I have never shared this story with anyone else. For you are the first to know what happened.
When I was little, I was the oldest of twelve children. Most of the time I treated them as my own since my father passed away and my mother was always out working. My father passed away just as the youngest, Olto, was born. I was left to raise Olto around the same time I met Aba. So here's the story.
The morning started off normal. Mother running off to work, me getting the kids together, making some food to fill their stomachs. Yet something seemed very off. Olto sat at the kitchen table mumbling some inaudible words. He seemed in his own world. He abruptly got up and walked outside. Anne, the second youngest, followed him outside. I dropped what I was doing and ran outside to get them.
All that you could see on my face is fear..where did Anne go? Olto snapped out of his daze. Fear took over both of us.
I should have done something to stop it. Everything has been falling apart since father passed.
We run into the house and grab Olto's shoes and my cell phone. I yell up to Aba and quickly explain the morning and told him he must take care of the rest of the kids. Olto is only seven at this time, so I was scared to have him tag along. But he is starting to follow his dad's footsteps.
My father used to always talk about this place far back in the woods behind the house. Those woods always gave off a suspicious feeling. With those thoughts, off to the woods we go. This is my first time ever entering there, so I have no clue what I will encounter.
At first it seemed like normal woods, some pine and cedar trees, random shrubs and bushes, but then it all seemed to change. It..it almost seemed like a hallucination. Swirls of color filled the air. Multicolored animals sit as still as statues as we entered.
"This place..I could see it this morning." Said Olto
That statement sent a chill down my spine. What could this possibly be?
The scenery suddenly changed. All the vibrant colors and animals turned into a macabre scene. The woods were all gloomy and foggy, just as they would seem in some stupid horror movie. Maybe that's what this is. Am I dreaming? Did I fall asleep to one of Aba's stupid horror films?
I rubbed my face with my hands and looked down at Olto. This was not a dream. This is a living nightmare. I blame myself for all the things that child seen there. He should have never experienced such a thing. Skeletons everywhere, blood soaked in the grass. It was a horror scene. In a slight distance, I could see a small lifeless body hanging. It couldn't be. Is it..Anne?
I sobbed quietly as I walked up to the body. Well yes...it was in fact her. Directly right beneath her written in her own blood it said "THIS ISN'T A DREAM. THIS IS A NIGHTMARE YOU CAN NEVER ESCAPE"
Who is doing this? What is happening?
I picked up Olto and ran back to where we came from. Problem is, the woods then became never ending. Well..I guess that you can never escape part would be this..
The dirt started to spiral off of the ground, forming a figure.
"Hello" says the figure
"I know what's going on. Let me tell you a story.
