She ran, she crawled, she walked alone,

On glass that cracked, and heaved and groaned.

Those bitter lies and tales of hope,

So quick they turn your heart to stone.

A wish, a plea, a whisper in the night,

She looked up at the stars, and prayed for a sign.

Lost in the shadows, just a face in the crowd,

Invisible to all but him, and who would notice one small sin?

They glared, they stared, they seethed with contempt,

Better lost then ever found was her tearful lament.

Those judging eyes never want for a target,

When you're lost and confused, or just broken hearted.

Going backwards, going nowhere, going far away from here,

On a path with no direction, she traveled through the tears.

A legacy of choices, a life time of regrets,

Well what's the point of fairytales if you just want to forget?

She tried, she failed, she tried again,

Then one day her time was spent.

All the words unspoken, those promises unkept,

Life's harsh truth, she realized, was no guaranteed happy end.
