new girl

ugh.

this day had been off to a horrible start. my mom woke me up at 6:00 sharp this morning. she said it was because she didn't want me to be late for my first day of school, but i think it's because she thinks i'm an irresponsible teenager who can't function in the morning.

so, not entirely wrong.

still, it's annoying. what kind of family moves halfway across the country right after the second semester starts. thats right, mine. my dad decided this would be the best time to take that new job in great old middle of nowhere new hampshire.

despite all the extra time, i still managed to only have half a bagel for breakfast while running to the bus stop. it arrived at the end of the road, about to leave before i came sprinting up. almost every seat in the front was taken by the middle schoolers from the stops before me. i kept my head down walking to the back, i didn't need all the kids to realize i was the new girl.

luckily, there was enough open seats to be by myself. no matter what my mom told me, i wasn't going to be spending the 10 minute ride "making new friends!" scrolling on my phone provided little comfort. none of my old friends bothered to text me on my first day at the new school. figures.

i ended up spending the whole time studying everyone in the seats around me. they didn't even notice me. in the seat next to me was 2 girls who looked to be around my age. one of them had very dark brown hair, the hottest eyebrows i had ever seen, and was wearing an olive green sweatshirt over leggings. the other had light dyed hair, somewhere between pink and orange. she had on clear framed glasses, and had on a bright cardigan that seemed to be homemade and reminded me of harry styles. she was really sexy and beautiful and hot and probably super smart and cool.

they continued their conversation when we were all walking off the bus. i tried to listen in but i didn't catch much.

"did you hear grace's uncle matt didn't come to family among us night?"

"i can't believe it, so rude of him."

how stupid.

the rest of the day felt like a blur. the only class i remembered once i stepped out of the building was biology. the class itself was super boring, my teacher -mr blue or something- spent the whole time talking about words i didn't understand. photosynthesis i guess.

there was a really hot girl in my class though. she was super sexy tall and all her energy ratiated across the room to me. she was an aquarius, i could smell it.

i left the room behind her, subtly following her down the hallway. it wasn't creepy or anything, the buses were in the same direction she was walking. on the way, she stopped by the girls i had seen on the bus this morning.

"where are we dancing today?"

"auditorium, i think."

i noticed the blue sign behind them, advertising dance team tryouts. i made a note to look into that later, it could be interesting. especially if hot biology girl was on the team.

i didn't think about much else for the rest of the day. at the dinner table, when my mom started pestering me with questions about everything that happened, and all the friends i made, i had nothing interesting to say.

when i climbed into bed for the night, all i saw was biology girl. i couldn't stop thinking about her when i was trying to fall asleep.

y/n! you don't even know who she is, stop being weird about a girl you saw once!
