MOMENTS IN TIME

Emmy was sitting on her bed, trying to calm her breathing, seeing it all happening on screen had brought back all the pain and hopelessness she felt being trapped for years. Emmy looked up as she heard someone knocking on the door, she got up and opened the door finding Tony on the other side.

"Can I come in?" Tony asked "Please"

Emmy shrugged "I guess" She stepped aside as he walked in, she sat back on her bed, attempting to ignore his presence as he sat down next to her.

"Jarvis got in touch with Pepper, she will be coming here tomorrow night" Tony began "Reluctantly but she's coming, she says she has something to tell us"

"Thats good" Emmy commented "Hopefully its something that will help us trap Killian and The Mandarin"

"Listen, Emmy, Im sorry..." Tony looked down trailing off

"Tony, its okay" Emmy lay her hand over his on the bed "You had to play the files, we needed to see the information that was documented."

"No...I mean yes I'm sorry for that too but for before you...." He looked back at her "Disappeared...I'm sorry I abandoned you"

"Tony... I didnt mean what I said" Emmy sighed "We were friends once, close friends... I know you would never have left me behind."

"I feel like I did, like Pepper and I both did, when our relationship dynamic changed." Tony confessed "I know it shifted the one between all three of us and you felt left out at times, especially within the company."

"Im not going to lie" Emmy smiled sadly "When you and Pepper became the IT couple and the company took off, I definitely felt like a third wheel. Which is why I wanted to see the world, get away, make something of myself" Emmy laughed humorlessly "Guess the jokes on me"

Tony turned his hand up, intertwining their fingers together "We should have looked for you after the explosion. I shouldn't have taken any ones word that you were one of the people buried in the rubble." He gave their joint hands a squeeze "I should have kept looking, made sure, Im so sorry Emmy."

"Oh Tony, I know you would have looked for me, both you and Pepper would have moved heaven and earth until you got me back" Emmy said as she pulled him into a tight hug, letting herself breathe in his familiar scent "Youre here now, and that matters"

Emmy pulled back and looked into Tonys eyes, losing herself in the moment, Tony leaned closer, laying his forehead against hers "Ive missed you, Emmy" He said softly, just then Jarvis chimed in, breaking the moment. "Mister Stark, we have received a disturbing message from The Mandarin, hes planned an attack downtown NY unless we hand over Ms. Emmaline"

Emmy jumped up and started heading out the door "Lets go, if the bastard wants me, he can have me" Tony watched her disappear out the door, heading out to find the others. He ran a hand over his face, what the hell was wrong with him he thought, he had almost kissed her... He shook his head and sprung up, running after her "Emmy Wait! We need a plan!"
