Chapter Six:
“Can they break that lock?” Blaze asked in a hurry to Gerard.
“If they don’t shoo- Apparently yes.” He changed his sentence with a frown.
The Dracs had shot the lock and were now pulling the door open. Fallen and Blaze had drawn their ray guns and had them aimed at the first couple of Dracs that were invading. Gerard did not like this. They had found their hide out, meaning that they would have to find something else.
Sparks flew, killing a couple of the Dracs. More were coming in behind them.
“Other way!” Mikey’s voice was very distant. The group turned and started running, dodging sparks.
They were halfway down the tunnel now, and Dracs were closing in very fast. Blaze’s hands were starting to glow some, and this frightened her. She slowed down, allowing the others to run off ahead of her.
The group was now out of the other exit, where as Blaze was standing still in the tunnel. Her palms were glowing still. She opened her right hand, and a small fire ball was hovering above it. She blinked, confused as to why this was happening to her.
Without hesitation, she hurled the ball through the air and watched it strike one of the Dracs, killing it on the spot. She did this over and over again until there were no more coming in. She felt relief and happiness swell over her entire body.
She walked the rest of the way to the exit and jumped out, not even needing any help. She landed in a crouch, and looked up at the others. They were stunned. Truly stunned.
“What the hell are you, Blaze?” Fallen was the first to speak.
“I don’t know anymore. I can like throw fireballs!” Blaze mumbled, straightening up.
“Show us,” Gee demanded. They took a couple steps back as Blaze’s hand began to glow again.
She opened her palm again, another fire ball hovering a couple inches above her hand. She moved her hand away. It was still hovering. She moved her eyes and watched as it moved with her. She then blinked, and it exploded in mid air, ashes trailing down to the ground now.
“Holy shit.” Ray and Frank said together.
Star’s eyes were wide, but a smile was planted on her face. Gerard and Fallen were just staring at Blaze like she was a maniac. Mikey, on the other hand, was smiling as well.
“Can you do anything else?” He had asked Blaze, taking a couple steps closer to her.
“I don’t know. I can try to.” She replied and concentrated again.
This time her hand was glowing bright blue. Her palm opened, and a water ball was now hovering. She made it sore through the air and then burst, making it seem like it was raining.
“Now try to move some of the sand.” Mikey instructed her. She nodded and concentrated again.
She eyed the sand carefully, and of course, it began to rise and form into the shape of a ball.
“Blaze, I think you can control the elements.” Mikey said this as he was watching the sand fall back to the ground when Blaze lost her train of thought and looked at him.
“I don’t think that shot was just a sedative anymore,” Fallen murmured, coming back to the present time.
“Then what the hell was it?” Blaze asked.
“I don’t know, and I have a feeling I don’t want to find out.” Fallen replied, in a quiet voice.
“We’ll figure it out later. Right now we need to find a new place to stay.” Gerard piped up.
“I could maybe be able to build something. I just need some trees.” Blaze said this with a smile.
The group now knew that she would be able to help them do things they would never have.
“Well. Let’s go find some trees.” Gerard smiled and started walking. Mikey trailed after him, as well as Frank with Star in his arms. Ray and Fallen followed, Blaze in the back.
They walked for hours and hours without stopping.
“Can we please stop?” Star’s little voice asked, breaking the long silence.
“I guess so. It’s nearly night fall anyway,” Gerard sighed. He had wanted to keep going, but he also knew they needed sleep.
“If it’s okay, I want to keep going. I can see some trees in the distant.” Blaze looked at Gerard.
“You aren’t going alone. Fallen, would you go with her?” Gerard looked over at Fallen.
“Sure, of course.” She smiled and stood up, walking over to her sister.
“Thanks,” Blaze smiled at her sister and started walking off. Fallen quickly followed her.
They walked another mile or two when the trees finally were in front of them. There were about 4 or 5, sturdy, oak trees in the middle of the desert.
“How are we gonna get them back to the others?” Fallen asked, looking up at the huge trees.
“Well, if I can control the elements, I can control the Earth, right? I should be able to lift them and move them with concentrating on them.” Blaze explained.
“Oh, right. Well, good luck.” Fallen took a couple steps back and watched as Blaze started to focus on the first tree.
It slowly moved from the ground and hovered in mid air, turning on its side. Blaze felt herself smile. She did it.
“No talking on the way back. I need to be able to think about keeping this thing up in the air.” Blaze mumbled and started walking. The huge tree was trailing behind her. Fallen walked a couple feet away from the tree and Blaze, in case anything happened. The walk back seemed to take forever.
“Guys? People wake the hell up!” Fallen shouted at the group. They all jumped up.
“What the fu- oh good. You got a tree!” Gerard moved away as Blaze let the tree drop on the ground. It landed with a loud thud.
“God that was hard.” She mumbled, rubbing her temples. “I hate thinking.”
“Well, you’re gonna have to think a lot more. You still have to build the actual shelter, ya know?” Frank piped up.
“No shit Sherlock.” Blaze rolled her eyes. Frank just chuckled and went back to playing with Star.
“If you want, you can do it tomorrow.” Gerard said.
“Yeah, that would be nice.” Blaze nodded as she sat down. “Well, good night.” She mumbled, shutting her eyes. She was asleep within seconds.
“Does she normally go to sleep that fast?” Mikey looked over at Fallen.
“Yep. It’s just her.” She shrugged. She laid down next to her sister, shutting her eyes and falling asleep as well.
Gerard, Ray, Frank, and Mikey followed them. Each one of them falling asleep at different times. Star had fallen asleep way before then, and didn’t awake when the tree was dropped on the ground.
As the group was in a deep slumber, the night sky turned dark and grey. Bad things were about to unfold the next day.
