You sat alone in the grass as you fanned yourself from the sweltering heat of a September afternoon. Today was Día de Amor y Amistad, and you were planning to give the family some little gifts, after you treat yourself, of course. Right now was one of the rare occasions where a Madrigal wasn't around to watch over you, so you plan on savoring every moment. Ever since your injury, they've been more protective, barely letting you out of their sights at all. It wasn't like you didn't appreciate their concern and enjoy their presence, but sometimes you just wanted some tranquility from the family chaos.
Casita was still in the process of being rebuilt, and everyone was doing their part, except you, because in the words of the family, 'you should rest, you're still hurt', which was a bit of a hard pill to swallow, so you did minor things, like passing out refreshments and lightly helping out in non-threatening work. Still, they didn't let you do much, which was nice at times, but often made you feel restless due to boredom.
Feeling energetic, you took the time to gather a bunch of nearby roses, write some letters, and buy some chocolate. It was the day of love and friendship after all. Hopefully you won't get reprimanded from staying away for too long, you did your best to not waste any time.
Just when you were about to head back to the building site, lightly calloused yet delicate hands block your vision as you hear a familiar giggle.
"Miraboo, I know it's you."
"Aw, how'd ya guess?"
"I'd know that laugh even from a mile away."
The spectacled girl snickers and playfully rolls her eyes at your cheesy words, light blush deepening when you hand her a rose, some chocolate, and a card.
"Feliz día del amor y la amistad, Miraboo."
"Wow, uh... thanks! I got something for-"
"There you are, mi vida! I made you some postre de natas!"
"You did not make that, Camilo! You stole one from má!"
"Okay... so?! I decorated it!"
"That doesn't mean you made it!"
Your eyes swiftly dart between the two as they continue to bicker. Clearing your throat, their attention immediately averts back to your figure as you hand the coily-haired boy the same presents you gave to Mirabel. He swoons dramatically and grabs the thornless rose, putting it in his mouth. Taking the card and chocolate in his hand, Camilo wraps his other arm around your shoulder while you hold him up from his pretend faint, which made a certain spectacled girl seethe in annoyance. He definitely wouldn't mind being a bachelor in a bind if you were the hero to save him.
"Ay, mi amor! So romantic~" He sounded ridiculous with the rose still in his mouth, making you laugh. All of a sudden, he gasps loudly, making the flower fall as he catches it ungracefully with his occupied hand.
"What's that? You want to take me out on a date?!"
"Wait, wait, wha-"
"Oh, mi cosa lindo! Why didn't you say so sooner?! I'd love to! Adiós, Mirabel~!"
Well, guess you were... going on a date now. Mirabel didn't even make an effort to hide her irritation as she fumed and glared at Camilo dragging your confused self away, leading you to a secluded, yet beautiful flora-laden area in the forest which was already prepped like a romantic picnic, complete with rose petals strewn all over the wrinkle-free blanket that laid on the ground and lit candles despite it being the middle of the day.
"Wow, you uh... put a lot of effort into this."
"What are you talking about, amor? You're the one who asked me out on a romantic picnic date!"
