Malcolm drove me to his house after the whole bridge thing. Turns out he lives all alone. His family situation is a lot like mine, so he got himself emancipated, and moved near his brother. Instead of telling my mom that I was staying at a strange boys house I told her was at some girlfriends working on a school project. Ginny knew better than to tell otherwise, or her lose of a V card may just split out of someones mouth.

"So what do'ya think?" Malcolm threw his arms open in a 'look at my place' sort of way.

"I love it." I grin. "So what is this? You my bestie or something?" He nods and goes to the fridge pulling out some milk and mac and cheese

"Or something." I thought I heard him whisper. Whatever, probably a figment of my imagination.

"So you really don't mind me crashing here?" I glance at him quizzically.

"Not if you don't mind sharing the bed. I'm not having you sleep on the uncomfortable shit of a couch and I'm definitely not going to either, expesually with my first day of hell being tomorrow." I shake my head. I really didn't mind. I mean he did save my life and all. "That reminds me, let me see your schedule. I wanna see if we've got any classes together." I hand him my paper.

"Won't do you any good.... I'm dropping out end of this course." He looks me dead in the eyes and grabs my shoulders.

"You'll do no such thing. Now let's see here. We've got 1st(English), 3rd(Gym), lunch, 6th(Maths), Study hall, and 7th(Art)." He frowned. "Damn."

"What?" I try to peek over our papers

"Different Biology classes." he winked, earning him a smack on the arm. "Ow, you evil girl."

"Devilish boy." I pull the covers up over my head.

"Ah hell nah!" Malcolm threw the blankets off. "You are not a bed/blanket hogger are you?" He looked like he was about to cry.

"Maybe." I giggled pulling the covers back up. "I'm just kidding, just go to sleep." He slipped into the bed. "Goodnight, Malcolm."

"Goodnight Laney." He hugged my back.

"Thank you." He turns around and looks at me quizzically.

"For what?" I kissed him on the cheek and hugged him tightly.

"For nothing, everything. You saved my life today, and now you're looking out for me in more ways than you know, and I'm so grateful for that." I smile as I fall into a deep sleep.

Around 5:30 the next morning I woke up to the 'Don't Hug Me I'm Scared' Screaming alarm.

"What the hell?" I jump, literally falling out the bed. I can hear Malcolm laughing from the bathroom.
"Oh that's priceless. You nearly jumped out of your skin!" He dropped his toothbrush "Ah shit." It was my turn to burst out laughing.

"Shut up." He spit the toothpaste out of his mouth and rinsed. "Better get around or we'll be late." He grabbed his Pikachu backpack and black Vans and we got into his truck.

"You don't mind going to pick up my brother do you? He has no one to take him to school." Malcolm shrugged.

"Thanks, it means a lot. Kyle is the only one who's actually likes me in that house." We stop about a block away from my so called home.

"Who is it?" Kyle shouted opening the door. "Laney? I thought you were at a friends house. Did you forget something?" I shake my head as I grab his backpack.

"No get your shoes on, we're getting a ride to school." He puts on his sneakers. "Tell mom the bus is here."

"But...Fine. Mom, bus! Love you bye." Mom just grunts a reply. Hopping into the truck we drive off.

"So you're Laney's 'girl' friend.....you look like a really ugly girl." Malcolm gasps in fain pain.

"That hurts. I try my hardest to be a pretty girl." he pretends to cry.

"Awe Kyle, that was mean, apologize. Awe Mally I think you make a very pretty girl." I rub his shoulder as he continues to sniffle.

"Thank you. You're a pretty girl too."
We both start laughing as Kyle sits there in complete confusion. "Kay kid outta my truck." Malcolm unlocks the door. "What time does school let out here?" We settled to come get him at 3:00 since school let out at 2:30 and he wanted time to go to his locker.

"Onwards to Hell." Both of us cry as he starts driving again.

"Hey look Loony Laney has a Crazy friend. Maybe someone should warn him who he's hanging out with." Julia laughs. Malcolm takes ahold of my hand and squeezes gently

"Don't listen to them. You're my pretty girl and they're all peasants to me." he kisses my hair. His girl.... Somehow my life has gone from nothing to something in a blink of an eye.
