Hospital Stay: Wedding Anniversary

Hospital Stay Day 151: December 6, 2019
Matt's POV: As I walk through the halls of the NICU, I smiled as I prepared to surprise Gabby with some nice flowers that I just bought for her. The reason? Today is me and Gabby's 3rd wedding anniversary. To think, last year we didn't even have kids...and now we have 4 of them. And even better, I convinced Gabby's mom to come spend the day here so that I can sneak Gabby away to the cafeteria. No, we aren't leaving the hospital (unfortunately)...rather, we are just going to the cafeteria to have a nice lunch together. (Thank you Gaffney for letting us do this). Walking in, I smiled at the sight of Gabby cuddling up to Andy in bed while reading a book with him.

Carrying flowers into our room, I smiled at Gabby. "Isn't this an adorable sight?" Gabby then turned to look up at me and smiled. "Hey." Seeing the flowers in my arms, Gabby smiled at me. "What are those?" I smiled and agreed with her before going to walk up to her. Leaning down, I went to kiss her and smiled. "Happy anniversary." Gabby smiled when I said that and then went to kiss me again. "God, these are beautiful baby." I smiled and agreed with Gabby when she told me that. "And so are you." Gabby looked up when I said that and just smiled at me. "3 years." I agreed with her when she told me that and just smiled at me. "I still can't believe it."

Gabby smiled and agreed with me when I told her that. "Now listen, I have this nice surprise for you." Gabby just looked at me when I said that, watching me sit down on her bed. "So, there's actually a reason why your mom's here." Gabby nodded when I said that. "She's going to stay here and watch the kids while I take you somewhere in the hospital so that we can have a nice meal together. Don't worry....we won't be long." Gabby agreed with me when I said that. She was still worried about the girls...and that was why I didn't want to leave the hospital with her. I just want her to be close to the girls in case we need to rush back....and I know she'll appreciate that.

"Uhm, do I have to get dressed up?" I laughed when Gabby asked me that and shook my head. "I mean, if you want to...then you can. But no, you don't have to change at all. In fact, I think you look beautiful in what you're wearing." Gabby smiled and agreed with me when I told her that. She then went to look at our boys and smiled at them. "Noah and Andy, can you guys let mommy up so that she can be with daddy?" They both agreed with her and moved. "Listen, I already put some clothes out for you in the bathroom. Just take a breath and get changed." Gabby smiled and agreed with me when I said that, going to walk away to get changed.

Looking at me, Camila just smiled. "Thank again for this Camila." Going to sit down with my boys, I smiled as I picked Andy and Noah up and just brought them into my arms. I still couldn't believe that my boys were going to be a year old in 3 weeks. This was incredible. "God, I still can't believe you both are going to be 1 year olds in 3 weeks." Camila laughed when I said that. "You excited about that?" I nodded and agreed with me when she asked me that. "Yes, very. God, I am so glad that my family is just all healthy right now." Camila nodded and smiled when I said that. "I'll set the flowers up when I get a chance okay Matt?" I agreed and smiled.

"By the way, I've been meaning to talk to you." Camila looked at me when I said that. "About what?" I sighed. "Christmas." Camila nodded and agreed with me when I said that. "Matt, don't even worry about that. We're coming here for Christmas." I nodded and agreed with her when she said that. "I appreciate that. I already invited my sister here too." She agreed and just smiled when I said that. "One step closer to having your girls home." I smiled and agreed with her. "Oh, just to let you know too...we are going to do the boys' birthday...." Camila laughed. "On the same day, I get it. Now, just take a breath and get ready for your date." I nodded and agreed.

Once me and Gabby finished up in our hospital room, I smiled as I led her away to the hospital cafeteria where I made her some lunch. Holding her hand with our fingers intertwined, I smiled at her. "You okay?" Gabby turned her head when I asked her that and just smiled at me. "Of course I am Matt...I'm here with the man I love." I nodded and agreed with Gabby when she said that. Turning my head, I went to kiss the side of her head and just smiled as I held her close to me. "I hope you aren't going to be sad that it's so simple." Gabby shook her head when I asked her that. "Matt, you setting this up in the cafeteria is already a great thing." I agreed.

Going open the last set of doors to the cafeteria, I smiled as we walked in together before turning my head to look at her. "What do you think?" Gabby smiled as she turned to look at me and then came to wrap her arms around my waist. "I love it Matt." I smiled and agreed with Gabby when she told me that before going to kiss her softly. "I love you." Gabby just smiled and agreed with me as I went to lead her towards the table I set up with a couple pasta dishes (made with her mom's help) and some wine. (Yes, it was later at night...so more like supper). Going to tug out her chair, I just smiled at her and then went to help Gabby sit down.

Once that was done, I smiled as I walked around the table and then went to sit down in front of her. "What do you think of this?" Gabby laughed and smiled at me. "Like I'll be okay here for an hour." I was shocked when she said that. "Really?" Gabby nodded and smiled when I asked her that. "Of course Matt. We need to celebrate us right now. You are my husband and I want you alone for a little bit." I smiled and agreed with Gabby when she told me that. "I feel the same way." Gabby smiled and just agreed with me when I told her that. "And we need to talk. I need to get gifts still." Gabby laughed when I said that. "I know, the shopping." I smiled at her.

"Later, we can talk about what we're getting the kids for Christmas okay?" Gabby smiled and agreed with me. "And where Christmas is going to be." I shook my head. "Gabby, it's going to be here. My family's here...and that means that I'm going to be here. I promise." Gabby smiled and agreed with me when I told her that. "You're the best." I smiled and agreed with Gabby when she told me that. "And I love you more than anything in the entire world." Gabby smiled and blushed when I said that, really happy that we're doing this. "God, I love you so much." I smiled and agreed with Gabby when she told me that. Going to get up, I leaned down and kissed her.

"I love you too. Happy anniversary baby." Gabby smiled and agreed with me when I told her that. Going to sit back down, I smiled as we both went to eat lunch together.
