It's been twelve years since The Incident.
It's been twelve years since he was kicked out from his clan.
It's been twelve years since he was last loved.
Niillus gazed out from the window reflecting on his life and how it came to be now. It certainly did have twists and turns, however, he made it this far and he's not gonna turn back now. He was enjoying the view when he saw a creature flying over the horizon. Niillus froze when he noticed that the silhouette of the creature looked similar to certain spirit.
Memories of that night suddenly flashed before his eyes. The screams, the pleas, the massacres, he remembered them all. Niillus began to breath rapidly as his heart began to race. His whole body started to tremble, his head pounding due to all the anxiety coming in all at once. Niillus's knees gave out and he dropped to the floor, curling up into a ball, trying to muffle his sobs.
"Please....make it stop." He muttered but it sounded muffled due to his head being in between his legs. "Please."
Due to his increased heart rate pounding in his ear, he failed to notice the door to his room being slammed open.
"Niillus!" A panicked voice shouted out. It was the water spirit, Vishkii. She heard a loud cry followed by a loud thud coming from upstairs. She took a look around the room and noticed Niillus was the only one not present in the room so, assuming the worst, she rushed up the stairs, making a bee line towards his room.
"Niillus, look at me, breathe!" Vishkii rushed to his side and gently cupped his face, taking in how distressed he looked. "Deep breath in, deep breath out. Breathe with me."
Niillus tried to listen to her advice but his body wouldn't listen to him. It felt as if he was on the verge of collapsing, that one tiny slip up would end it all.
The water spirit noticed that Niillus was still having trouble breathing and she slowly but gently wrapped her arms around the trembling boy. His muscles tensed from the sudden touch but soon relaxed into the warm embrace.
"Shhhh it's going to be okay, Niillus. Just take deep breaths." Vishkii whispered, rubbing small circles on his back to try and calm the male down.
A couple of minutes passed before Niillus began to calm down. His breathing slowed down, his body wasn't trembling anymore, and his heart rate lowered to it's normal speed.
Neither of them moved, enjoying the peace and quiet.
A small creak of a door suddenly trapped their attention and they looked towards the door. Riko and Kai were standing at the doorway.
"Are you guys okay? You've been up here for a while." Kai asked.
Niillus only nodded as he didn't trust his own voice, fearing that it would crack. He slowly pulled away from Vishkii and went to the bathroom to wash his tear-stained face. When he came back, he took note of the concerned looks his friends had on their faces.
"Why are you guys looking at me like that?" Niillus slowly asked.
"Dude, you were crying!" Riko exclaimed. "And here you saying 'WhY aRe YoU gUyS lOoKiNg aT mE lIke ThAt??'. I mean seriously dude!"
"Riko, that's enough." Kai lightly smacked the demon on the back of the head. "Sorry about him but we are worried. Just so you know, we're here if you want to let something off your chest."
Vishkii nodded to Kai's statement. "We're not gonna force you if you don't want to but just letting you know."
The three looked towards Niillus, hope and trust in their eyes. They have known him for a while now and during that time, they've come to appreciate and see him as one of their own.
Niillus felt tears forming his eyes again, but this time from joy instead of fear. He felt happy that he found people who understood him and not just shooed him away.
"Dude, you got tears again." Riko bluntly pointed out.
"I'm okay, just got something in my eye." Niillus chuckled out. The short demon let out a muffled "Sure, that's definitely it." but the brunette still heard.
"Aww c'mere!" Vishkii said as wrapped her arms around the shorter male. Niillus cheeks turned a light pink at the action.
The two felt extra weight on their bodies and looked to see Riko clinging onto Vishkii's back, joking in on the hug.
"C'mon Kai, group hug!" Riko exclaimed, looking over to his boyfriend. Kai just rolled his eyes and walked to the group, giving Niillus a side-hug.
"Thank you. All of you." Niillus whispered "I'm not exactly ready to tell you all yet but I'm happy that you guys understand that and not rush me."
"Of course." Kai said.
The four remained in the same spot for a few more seconds before they pulled apart. "Great we all got sappy." Riko said. He walked to the front of the room trying to come up with a way to lighten the atmosphere. And then it hit him.
"Hey, how about we have a movie marathon where we make fun of the worst movies of all time?" The purple-haired demon suggested.
"Sounds good." The others agreed in union. Kai, Vishkii, and Riko began to head out the door but Vishkii noticed that Niillus wasn't following them.
"Hey, you coming?" She asked.
"Huh? Oh yeah, yeah, I'm coming" Niillus snapped out of whatever trance he was in an followed Vishkii.
It's been twelve years since The Incident.
It's been twelve years since he was kicked out from his clan.
It's been twelve years since he was last loved.
But now he's found people who made him feel welcomed, found people who understand him. He's glad that he met them all. He didn't know what he would do if he didn't. They were like a family to him, a home.
He wouldn't trade them for anything in the world.

Bonus:
"This movie fucking sucks. The acting is terrible! I mean the love of your life just died in front of her and she's just like 'Oh no...anyway.'." Riko complained as he munched on some popcorn.
The others nodded their head agreeing with him.
"This movie has a one star rating for a reason." Kai pointed out.
"Can we change it? I don't think I can watch anymore of this crap." Vishkii asked, already getting the remote.
"Yeah." The boys responded.
And thus, the water spirit changed the movie to another low rated movie, hoping it would be better.
(Spoiler alert: It wasn't.)

My god that took forever. Anyway, this is my first time writing someone having a panic attack and angst in general and I'm hoping I did an okay job.
I did some research on the topic before hand and tried my best to describe what it was like. If I made any mistakes, please let me know, it really helps me for future stories.
Hope you enjoyed reading ^^
