The stump in Miss Lim's garden was indeed beginning to grow. It was now a tree, or rather succulent tree stem, and green leaves again flourished. Walking around the garden, which has now been restored to its original glory by the capable gardener, Ming, she admired the beautiful flowers.
Butterflies have started coming into the garden, and she even spotted a snail or two in the early morning dew. They didn't like the hot sun, but crawled under the shade, leaving a trail of sticky mucus on the ground. Miss Lim studied the many insects and plants, making her happy again.
Then she remembered the chat she had with that woman at the supermarket. The woman had complained that her banana tree was not wielding any fruit. Come to think of it, neither did hers.
Every time there was a red flower, Miss Lim had stuck a needle in to get the satisfaction of her banana man. However, this had been disappointing in recent weeks, for she had done as she always did, but he never appeared.
Miss Lim was starting to get suspicious of her neighbor, Candy. Ever since Ming started coming to her house to work on her garden, her banana man had stopped coming. And Ming was the man Miss Lim saw between her legs when she tried that trick with the pee.
