Layla's Story

ch12 awaken

I thought this was a day dream but it was not it was a nightmare.  I was lying on the floor and Keenan had shot me in the shoulder. Then he started to tell at Chris.
"Look what you made me do. This is all your fault". I woke up screaming. I was in a hospital. How did I get here? They had put me in a hospital gown. My clothes were gone. The TV was on. The news caster had said it was February 15th. I had slept all night. Everyone was there. Piper, Sky, my mom, my dad, Leon, Claire, and Chris. Leon noticed I was awake.
"Hey girly how are you feeling"? Everyone looked towards me. She could not speak. Her mom and dad walked towards her.
"Hey honey, what happens with you and Keenan"? I did not remember anything. Chris was asleep on the chair. Leon answers my question before I got to answer it.
"Keenan and Chris had a fight and Keenan grabbed your arm and left a bruise. Then he shot you in the shoulder". I looked at Chris and he was badly hurt. He had gotten in a fight with Keenan? I looked at my hand there was a bruise the size of Keenan's hand. I looked at my mom and dad. I had to tell them sooner or later.
"Keenan has been abusing me since I became friends with Leon and Claire". Leon and Claire looked at each other. My mom looked at me.
"Why did you not tell us when it happened"?  Chris woke up and looked at me with concern. He had heard what I told my parents. I was afraid he might leave again and never come back. He looked away. I felt a pain shoot in my shoulder. My mom ran to get a doctor. Chris knelt next to me and grabbed my hand. I was surprised my dad did not do anything.
"your ok, just calm down, ok". I looked at him and smiled. The doctor came into the room.
"We need to get her into surgery to get the bullet out of her shoulder". Chris  got up and walked towards him but Leon stops him.
"You did not take the bullet out yet. What is wrong with you"? Chris tried to walk closer to the doctor but Leon stops him.
"Woah, calm down Chris". Chris looks at me and i nod my head in agreement. The doctor tells the others to go sit in the waiting room. Then they take me to another room. I could feel pain but I was not in the hospital anymore.  I was in my house.  My mom and dad were sitting on the couch. They were crying. I walked closer to them and they had my photo from my 17th birthday party. It was a picture if me, my mom and my dad. Was I dead? That could not be possible. I ran upstairs and all of my stuff was packed in boxes. On each box there was a single word STORAGE. I could not be dead. I heard my mom and dad talking to someone. I ran down stairs and it was Chris. He apologized for their loss. I went to walk away from them but Chris said something that caught my attention.
"I loved her and I never even got to say goodbye.  I was going to ask her to be my date at prom". He started to cry and seeing him cry made me start crying. I woke up in the hospital and Chris was the only person in the room. Chris looked at me.
"Guys, she's awake". Everyone walked inside the room. Leon looked at me.
"You look better Layla. How do you feel"? I looked at my parents. They smiled at me. Chris smiled when i looked at him. I remembered what he had said to me in my dream. Chris looked towards the door. A nice looking man came in the room. Leon stopped him.
"Woah, who are you"? Chris walked over to Leon.
"It's ok Leon. This is my brother, Luke". Leon let go of Luke. Chris walked outside of the room with Luke. I could not let Chris leave me again like he did in December. I ripped out my iv. I ran towards the window he was talking with a few other people. I recognized two of them besides Luke. I saw Rose and Kenna. There were a few others. I heard Leon and Claire running out of my room and calling  my name. I opened the door and ran towards Chris. Leon and Claire ran after me. Chris heard them calling my name. He turned around with a concerned look. I jump into Chris arms. I heard  Kenna say something.
"I still think she's hot". I whisper into his ear.
"Don't leave me I need you". He wraps his arms around my waist. He sets me down and whispers back.
"I'm not going anywhere". Chris looks at Claire and Leon.
"Shes good".  Leon and Claire look at me with relief. Chris looks at Luke.  I suddenly feel dizzy. I suddenly fall. Chris catches me and I black out.
