You and Alex ditch your wedding day
Weddings are bullshit.
That's what you were thinking as you danced across the ballroom, your husband spinning you like a ballerina, delicately, with elegance, but you weren't feeling either happy, in love, or a single drop of joy, because the truth was the man you wanted to be with forever was only a few centimeters away from you, helplessly observing you and your husband, wishing it was him.
He left his feelings imperiled, kept them hidden even though, it was obvious he had huge love and affection for you, he buried what he felt in the deepest crack inside his heart, all because he didn't want to confuse you, but you were already confused enough, the way he was with you, he was just like this dance, delicate, lovely, pleasing to the eye, he treated you like his most precious souvenir, that sunny day of spring you bumped into him at the beach, that was the day that marked your life forever.
Alex walking down the windy beach, with the smell of the salty ocean, and the relucent sun, smiling brightly at the jokes his mates made, you were inside your car about to leave the beach and go back home to your soon-to-be husband, a part of you wanted to see the last of Alex, you were almost drooling over his slipped back hair, and even if you found it a bit odd, you had to admit he looked so hot walking around those tight black jeans and white shirt with his shiny Chelsea boots, when you thought you've seen enough of him, you carried away turned on your engine which sadly had a malfunction, the lustful man you were stalking heard you struggling and helped you get your truck fixed.
Since that day you and Alex became inseparable, you invited him and the rest for drinks and chatted for hours and hours, you were surprised when you found out about their careers, it's true you'd heard about Arctic Monkeys before but at the time you weren't focusing enough, now you knew every lyric to each of their songs.
Loving your husband was very hard, but that love you felt for him began to slowly vanish the moment he asked for your hand in front of your family, you felt forced to say yes, and that's what you did, there was a huge social pressure for you to get married, you were old enough to get married and to have children, but you were waiting for real love to come to you, someone you would love forever, loads of people laughed at you for that but everything changed when you met Alex.
"Give it up for the bride and the groom!" The sound of cheers and claps rained all over the room, you pinched the corners of your mouth and called it a smile, lying to yourself and the rest, Alex grabbed another sparkly glass of sweet white wine from the waiter, to drink down his words and emotions, when you tapped his shoulder he turned around and smiled excitedly, even though you saw some build up tension on the corners of his lips and jaw.
"You were lovely out there, you looked just like a princess," He said with his hand on his chest, as usual, he had his gelled back hair with not a single piece of hair out, a black shirt loosely buttoned up his chest, grey dressing pans that fitted him tight around his thighs and waist, a golden chain around his neck resting on his collarbone, he was perfection.
"Thank you," You said under your breath, "Could've done it better though"
He smacked his lips together and shook his head, "Don't be like that, it was beautiful, you're beautiful, everything about you is just..." He swallowed harshly before he could keep talking, "It was beautiful"
"I think I got it" You both giggled, "Thanks Alex, for coming here and the gifts, you didn't have to" Before Alex could answer you back, you were called to the table for the horrifying toast your husband was about to say, you speed to the table and sat next to him in the center, and on your side your mom and dad.
"Good evening everyone," He said, "I wanted to thank you all for coming to this wedding, that's more than a wedding...is a celebration of a new life, together, just you and me," He grabbed your chin and pecked your lips, you smiled again, the smile faker than the other, at the chapel you were expecting for Alex to stop the wedding if he called for you, you would run to him, it only took two words, "I oppose". Even if he didn't have the same feelings as you, you both knew that you weren't so happy anymore, you felt happier when you were away from who you thought you belonged with, you were happier with the unexpected, with the surprises and joy Alex had brought to your life.
