"Mom can we just go home now" Nagato whined pulling at his mother's shirt to grab her attention.

Since both his parents worked at the Ame hospital, they normally stayed there often. With no one to care for their son, they brought him along with them to work until their shift was done.

His mother knew this was no place for a child. With the ongoing war, a lot of disturbing sights were brought into this hospital. Luckily that is only what happened in the emergency ward where his father worked. His mother, on the other hand, handled the maternity ward instead caring for women post birth.

She knelt down next to him "Hey now I told you we would only be here for another hour. You can go play somewhere else in the meantime or read a book"

"Play somewhere? But there is no one here to play with" He pouted sadly

"There is a girl almost your age who comes here to this ward as well. She is usually down the left hall reading. Maybe you can go talk to her" She offered

You climbed onto the chair to look out the window. The rain was dripping softly off the building's window, as the weak sun shone down on it forming a small rainbow.

"Hi" a timid small voice called behind you

You turned around to see a red haired boy with bangs covering his eyes and smiled

"Hi" you spoke and watched him climb onto the chair next to you moving his bangs to look out the window as well. His soft black eyes reflecting the rainbow.

(I know they aren't black but he activated the rinnegan when his parents died and both his parents had black eyes)

"Can I hang out with you until my mother is done with work?" He asks and you nodded happy that there was someone young enough to play with while you were there.

"Y/n you have grown so much. We wish to proceed with your training but the war rages on and you need to be dispatched as soon as possible"

You bowed in front of Yuga's leader along with your sensei.

"Y/n has showed great promise and she will not disappoint. At a young age she has managed to master 2 natures and knows over 12 justus in each of the two elements. Though she looks like an immature baby-"

This was your relationship with them. You were orphaned at a young age and taken in by your sensei, almost like you were adopted by him. He had a wife who passed in the war before they could have any kids and he was glad to have you with him to compensate.

"Very well for your first mission we will be dispatching you with a boy your age to deliver the negotiation letter we have for the hidden waterfall village. They were strong enough to get their own tailed beast you know and they are our only reliable neighboring village, so we must make peace with them and earn their protection"
