So, I want to tell you a story, a story of great bravery and honor. This is a story about two teens, James and Allan, whom through curiosity find themselves in a world that extends beyond our own and unlocks infinite possibilities.

James and Allan were two high school boys, James was in grade 11 and Allan grade 10. Growing up together, the two boys have always been the best of friends. James, whose dad passed away when he was three, constantly got yelled at and beaten by his mom. This caused him to have all sorts of problems with females throughout his life. James also had what his teachers thought was a learning disability. he had a hard time reading the typed word, which caused him a lot of ridicule from his classmates and even his teachers. Allan had both of his parents still, but they always fought. All the yelling and screaming was too much for him to handle. Allan also had unusually high energy, so they thought he had ADHD. He would get into fights and get beat up all the time, James was always coming to his rescue. They both went through rough childhoods, but always used their friendship to gain strength. Growing up they were different from everyone else. The issues that everyone thought they had, combined with their rough childhoods, were what set these two apart from the rest throughout their lives.

One day at school Allan heard some of the grade twelve girls talking in the hallway about what he understood to be magic. Allan was fascinated with magic. As a kid he was always reading books about dragons and magic. So curious, he got closer so that he could hear them better. They were talking about an old cabin in the middle of a forest that borders the north end of town. They were calling it the ghoul house. After a lifetime of dreaming about magic and other worlds, these girls sounded so scared when they talked about it that it had to be true! That afternoon he went to James and asked,

Do you believe in magic James?

James responded,

Yeah I do, there has to be more out there than what we see and hear.

Hearing this Allan got all excited and told James that he heard the grad girls talking about magic.

Allan said,

Apparently there is an old cabin in the dark forest. I heard some of the grad girls talking about it today. They were saying that it was used for all sorts of rituals, they called it the ghoul house, we should go check it out on Friday night.

James had heard other stories about this house before, none of them good, so he was reluctant to say yes.

I dont know, said James.

We have to, said Allan.

James took a moment to think about it and said,

Ok Allan, lets go check it out then.

Friday came up very quickly, as Allan was excited, and James was concerned about going to the ghoul house. James sent Allan a text after school on Friday and told him to make sure he had a flashlight and to remind him to charge his phone, so he would be ready for their adventure. James also packed a backpack full of food, water and survival equipment. Allan just told James to meet him at the field down behind the new townhouse development.

Allan made his way to the park early that evening. There he waited impatiently for James as the sun slowly sunk behind the mountains. The air was getting cool and damp from the evening dew.

Hey! shouted James, I made it!

Allan turned around and there he was, running across the open field, waiving his hands in the air and shouting.

Are you ready then?, asked Allan as James came into regular speaking distance.

Of course Im ready, who are you talking to?, replied James in a comedic tone.
