He found her.

She lay on the skeleton of a mattress. No blanket, no pillows, not a god damn thing for her to cling to.

Aizawa couldn't figure out what his strongest emotion was. Anger? Sadness for her? Relief? No. Stop. His feelings didn't matter. She's here. Take care of her.

Her kidnappers laid dead at his feet. Bullets straight through each of their skulls. Fuck. After seeing her, he wished so badly he would've made their deaths slow. Torturous. So much worse than what they'd done to her. And for fucking what? What did she ever fucking do? Why? Why her?

Because she loved him. Because he loved her back. Because he loved her with his entire being.

God, why was he so stupid? He knew the dangers, the risk, his job, his LIFE, but... She never gave up on him... How could he not love her?

Aizawa kneeled next to her. He felt the tears threatening to run down his face. She looked so... broken. Several of her limbs were broken. So many wounds and bruises hidden behind so much blood. Some of her fingers missing, still in the box that he was sent. Aizawa has seen death, torture, so much worse. But now, he's never felt more sick. So scared.

He practically ripped his jacket off his shoulders and placed it over her. The only clothing that now covered her body. He held his breath and reached for her. Covering her and gently pulling her into his arms. She was too cold. Fuck, was she even breathing? Aizawa's entire body trembled and his eyes closed. He didn't want to know. Not yet. Please, no. He just got her back.

Three weeks. He searched for three weeks. Why was he so slow. So useless. So pathetic. "I'm sorry", he whispered. "I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry."

"I knew you'd find me."

Aizawa gasped harshly, instantly turning his gaze to her. Her eyes didn't open nor did she move, but the smallest smile formed on her lips. "I got you. I got you. I'm here. You're safe now." Aizawa spoke softly, quickly making his way to his feet. He clutched her tightly and made his way to the car.

The moon was still high in the sky. The air cold but she didn't react. He swung the drivers side door open, and climbed inside. He didn't want to let her go. He didn't think he could. He kept her against him as he started the car. Slamming his foot on the gas causing the car to jerk as he put it in drive. One hand on the wheel, the other wrapped around his reason for living as he sped to the nearest hospital.

Hours. Fucking hours Aizawa waited. He sat then paced then screamed at the poor nurses just doing their jobs. He wanted to see her. To hold her. But he saw her for himself. For fucks sake he said it himself, she looked broken. And he didn't even see her completely. "Y/N. Baby... please... please Y/N. I'm so sorry."

"I'm so sorry." The doctor held his head low as he spoke. "Her injuries... there's nothing more we can do. Her body just simply couldn't handle anymore."

Shouta felt his anger rise, he felt his blood begin to boil underneath his skin. He stood over the doctor, getting ready to yell. But just as his anger peaked, his heart dropped and it completely vanished as he heard the dreaded single beep that continued on for eternity. He didn't move. He didn't blink. He didn't breath. The doctor and nurses rushed into the room, and still, he stayed there. Frozen.

Breathe. Breathe. Blink. Move. Do something dammit! Move! Shouta screamed the words over and over again to himself. Yet, still, his body betrayed him. His lungs burned. His eyes stung. Fuck. Was his heart even beating?

He forced his body to move. One foot after the other. Left. Right. Left. Right. Till he finally entered the room. Shouta dragged his body to her. "Please.." he wimpered. "Please... please, no, please God..." The staff stepped back as they turned towards him. They watched the tears stream down his face. Watched his body shake, and his breath hitch. He sank down to his knees next to the bed. His hand shook as he lifted it to grasp hers. He intertwined their fingers. Shouta heard voices but he didn't register what they were saying. He didn't care. He didn't fucking care because she didn't react to his touch. "No..." he said again.

Shouta didn't hear the conversation that was being had. Didn't notice as a nurse removed the last of the hundreds of tubes connected to her. Didn't notice the doctor covering her body with a sheet, until he could no longer see her face. He wanted to scream at him to take it off her. The staff quietly exited the room, deciding to let the man grieve in peace. Shouta heard the door close. Then, and only then, did he finally scream. Again, and again till his throat hurt by just his breathing and his tears completely blinded him.

He squeezed her hand as he felt his own life slowly drain from his body. He leaned over slowly and kissed her hand before rising to his feet. He lifted the sheet just enough to see her face. "Why..." Just his whispers made his throat ache. "Fuck, please, please don't... Don't leave me." Shouta stared at her. No... Not her, but a body. The life, the soul, the woman he loved so dearly... was gone. This was all she left behind.

"Don't leave me."

Shouta leaned down and kissed her forehead. Her left cheek, then her right. Her chin, her nose, then finally... her lips. "Forgive me... Please, Y/N, forgive me... I tried. I fucking swear to you, I tried." Shouta felt his tears roll down his cheeks and land on hers. His hands moved, easily completing the task that was practically instinct to him. Shouta felt his tears slow, as did his breathing, and finally... his heart.

He moved her H/L H/C hair and tucked his left arm behind her neck. He buried his face in her hair atop her head and held her close and breathed. "I love you Y/N." He raised his right hand into position. Aizawa Shouta held his breath, exhaled... then pulled the trigger. Following the love of his life. Just like she used to always promise him.

And as all hell broke loose in the hospital..
Heaven opened its gates to welcome another.
