Yoonji had concluded her student council meeting and the small group of people were on their way. Yoonji had a big smile on her face. Planning the perfect prom was probably the most stressful thing that she would ever do, especially since she is the first person as a junior in Perilous high school to ever win student council president.
Prom was in one month. It was officially March and things were only going to get more stressful. Another thing that was on her mind was Minji. She and Minji's relationship was a little bit rocky ever since the two were caught making out in her room by her parents a few months back.
They're definitely on talking terms, but ever since that day, they have never spoken about it, and Yoonji definitely wants to talk to her about it, but she never thought about when she wanted to do it, or what she was going to say.
Yoonji collected her things, put them in her bookbag, and was off to the library. This was her free period, so she chose to go to the library to study. That was until she felt herself getting pulled into a dark room.
The light turned on and Yoonji was faced with none other than Minji herself. Minji gave her a sweet smile. "Hey."
"Minji...why are we in the janitor's closet? Shouldn't you be in 3rd period right now?" Yoonji crossed her arms.
"Well yeah, but I wanted to see you!" Minji giggled. "And...talk to you about something that I've been thinking about."
"Okay, what's up?"
Minji bit her lip a little. "I want to talk about us. About...what happened a few months ago. I know you didn't forget about it, and I haven't either, but it's been bothering me that the two of us haven't talked it out since then. I know your mom doesn't want you talking to me and—"
"Well, I don't really care about that whole thing because here I am still talking to you," Yoonji let out a breathy laugh. "But um...yeah. I'm really sorry that you were dragged into that. The last thing I wanted was for my parents to show their true colors to my best friend."
"No, I should be the one who's sorry. If it wasn't for me talking about kissing you and stuff, none of this would've happened," Minji told, looking down at her feet.
"That's okay. I guess...my parents were going to find out that I was lesbian at some point," Yoonji sighed. "The only two things I was worried about was you and Yoongi. I'm just glad you don't hate me."
"I wouldn't ever hate you. It wasn't your fault and I don't think I ever could hate you," Minji said. "You know, I wasn't lying that night when I said I enjoyed kissing you. In fact, I...enjoy everything about you. I really like you, Yoonji."
Yoonji let out a small gasp, her eyes going wide. "W—"
"Was I not obvious enough?" Minji placed her hand on Yoonji's shoulder. "Gosh—I mean I thought you knew. I just never asked you out because of that whole thing. Gay people am I right?" Minji let out a laugh.
Yoonji blushed. "Yeah I um..."
Minji's arm hung low as she slouched a little. "You don't like me back do you? I understand—"
"No wait! I-I do. I really do...I like you too, but..."
"But...what?"
"I just don't want to date you and then break up with you because of my parents. It'll be harmful," Yoonji sighed.
"Hey," Minji held both of Yoonji's hands. "Who cares what your parents think. You need to start living your life for YOU instead of living the life that your parents want you to have. It's not healthy and it's making you unhappy. If you want to be out of the closet and be with me, then I will be there, but if you're going to choose to keep hiding your real self and continue to live a life you don't want to live, then...I'll still be your friend, but...it'll just be awkward."
