"Annabelle, I see you." Ana called out to the handful of arepas floating mid-air.
A little girl with light brown curls materialized in front of her. "Mami." She whined.
"Come here, you." Ana scooped her up in her arms, lightly pinching her freckle-dusted face. "What did I say about sneaking food? Do I need to get Papi?" She asked, setting the little girl back on the tiles of the foyer, straightening her yellow and gray sundress.
"What about Papi?" Camilo stride into the room, signature yellow ruana smoothly laying on his frame, the little pink flowers Ana and Mirabel had stitched on the edges so many years ago adding a personal touch to the much loved cloth. "Ooh, arepas." Annabelle handed him one. "Did you sneak these from the kitchen?" He said disapprovingly, stuffing it into his mouth.
"Yep." She smiled up at him.
"That's my girl!" His tone changed as he swung her above his head. She giggled as he tossed her into the air. Ana couldn't help but laugh along with them.
"Well what do we have here?" A voice asked as Camilo set Annabelle on the ground.
"Tío Carlos!" She exclaimed, running over to him, hugging him around his knees. He let go of the hands of two girls at his side to gently squeeze her back. "Gabbi, come play with me!" She addressed the smaller of the two girls.
"Okay." She giggled, touching her large round glasses, then running off with Annabelle.
"Don't set anything on fire, Mija!" Carlos called after them. "I should probably make sure they stay out of trouble." He muttered, running after them.
The other girl tapped her own glasses then crossed her arms, the little origami butterflies she had made fluttering around her.
A boy with loosely curly deep brown hair and storm gray eyes walked into the foyer.
"Hugo and I are going to the market. We already checked with Tío Mariano and Tía Dolores and they're fine with it."
"Only if you take Alejandra, Cameron." Ana instructed.
"Fine." He shrugged, waving the girl with paper butterflies to follow him as he started to leave.
"And remember-" Ana started.
"I know." He cut her off, joining another boy his age and leaving the house.
"His mind reading is getting pretty annoying." Camilo chuckled.
"Takes after his father." Ana leaned her head on his shoulder.
"Wow, okay, Amor." He laughed. "Can you believe that Dolores' due date is only a month away now?"
"Five kids, I don't know how she does it. I have my hands full with just three."
"Three?" He asked, confusion plain on his face as he turned to her. Realization suddenly flashed across it, eyes lighting up. "Really?"
Ana placed her hands on her stomach, smiling wide at him. He wrapped her up in a hug, a few tears of happiness slowly sliding down his cheeks. He kissed her forehead, then grabbed her hand, spinning her around slowly. His soft hazel eyes met her deep stormy ones.
