Chapter 6: Fixer Upper

A hard smack to the face was what Bakugou Katsuki received on their way back home. The latter didn't even bother retaliating given the circumstances of the situation he was currently in.

"I was worried sick!" fussed L/n Y/n as she landed light hits on Bakugou. "You wouldn't pick up your phone and I almost had a heart attack." Bakugou let the pout on his lips hang lower.

It was a few hours after the villain attack, and once the heroes finished up with them, they were allowed to leave. Midoriya had left earlier before, and so did All Might, so the two teens walked home together, seeing how they live in the same neighborhood. L/n was currently letting out her angered thoughts, and Bakugou let her did as she pleased - the worrywart.

"... stupid villain," L/n had finished saying, muttering a string of illegible curses after. Bakugou gave her a glance, letting out a small irritated groan, a muscle going in his forehead.

"I get it, 'mom', so stop your nagging already."

But his words finished along with the words 'to Midoriya' that escaped L/n's mouth. At the sudden mention of Midoriya, whom Bakugou was still mad at, he raised a challenging eyebrow, his irritation evident.

"What about Deku?" started Bakugou slowly, a low growl following the end of his sentence. L/n, unbothered, said, "Fumiyo and Yuuki kinda told me about what you said to Midoriya today."

Bakugou's expression, for a moment, went completely blank. L/n took the time while he blanked out to study his face, waiting for a reaction. The spiky blonde blinked rapidly, clicking his tongue whilst swiftly walking past her.

"So what?" he spluttered. "Why does it matter?"

He tentatively glanced back at L/n, only to see a saddened - no, disappointed look on her face, causing his anger - and guilt - to rise. "I said, why do you care," said Bakugou through gritted teeth, clenching his shaking fists.

L/n stared at his trenbling figure, and felt her heart grow heavy. No, she wasn't sad or disappointed, she was mostly feeling regret. Had she had noticed sooner. Noticed how Bakugou tensed up and how Midoriya trembled whenever they crossed paths.

There was clearly conflict there, one that's been building up since many many years ago, and yet she never noticed.

L/n took a few careful steps forward and placed her hand on Bakugou's shoulder, feeling his body tense up at her sudden contact.

Before she had gotten a word in, Bakugou shook her hand off, his frustration breaking the meter once again -

He abruptly turned to her, his eyes glossy. "I asked why you care so much! Why you care, or even ackowledge that damn Deku! He's a nobody! A useless nobody! He was asking for it today, always thinking he's better than me. Applying for UA... who does that little shit think he is..."

L/n's outstretched hand lowered, her brows knitted together tightly with concern. Bakugou gave her a hardened look, muttered a small 'whatever' and turned away from her, kicking one of the stray rocks in his path as he proceeded forward, leaving her behind.

L/n jogged to keep up with him. "Katsuki."

Bakugou ignored her, but she didn't take it to heart either, and only tried her best to get through to him.

"I can't say I understand you, or if I think it's fine that you torment him. And well... I won't force you to apologise to him; I think you should do it yourself when you think you're ready. I just think that after what happened today, and how he showed he still cares even after what you said... apologising is the very least you can do."

Bakugou stopped in his tracks, and so did L/n. There was a piercing silence as she awaited his response.

Then finally, he opened his mouth to speak. "I won't apologize, over my dead body," - L/n sighed - "But... I guess I'll try and tolerate him or whatever..." L/n lit up, beaming brightly again.

A booming 'REALLY?!' echoed around them; the birds perched up in the trees flew off, cawing loudly at the sudden noise.

Bakugou flinced. He rubbed his ear irritably, "You wanna scream the goddamn leaves down or something?"

L/n, however, was jumping around enthusiastically at Bakugou's once-in-a-lifetime offer. Boy, was she proud of him. She let out another small squeal, Bakugou rolled his eyes, though the pink on his cheeks wouldn't lie.

L/n saw from the corner of her eye that a bright orange was starting to sink in on them. Her eyes drifted to the horizon, then shielding her eyes to admire the beauty of a setting sun.

The sky was pinkish with soft shades of purples and light blues, and the sun was emanating vivid shades of red and orange. A warm breeze blew past, her long h/c hair flowing along. L/n smiled in awe, sometimes, people had to slow down, just to notice beauty in the simplest of things.

She turned to where Bakugou stood, only to feel her cheeks warm up. If the sunset was magnificent, it was nothing compared to what her eyes were comprehending right now.

The constantly loud Bakugou was unusually quiet, a calm look lacing his refined features. His spiked up ash blonde hair looked much softer under the warm sunlight, giving him - unbelievably enough - a soft look. The orangey rays reflected off his half-lidded vermillion eyes, letting them brim with warmth. And had she not notice his rather masculine figure before?

L/n felt a blush creep up her cheeks.

Then, making sure Bakugou didn't know what she was up to, L/n fixated her camera eye on him. Bakugou winced at the sudden camera flash, then groaning when he realized what she'd done.

"Delete that - somehow!"

L/n laughed, she knew Bakugou hated having a picture of him taken when he was calm. He thought it showed his weak side, but she thought it showed his sweet side. The ash blonde struggled to get the picture from her, L/n enjoyed herself as she waved the picture tauntingly, away from his reach.

Then, not giving him another second to think, L/n shoved the picture into her pocket and hooked her arm around his, cheerfully chirping, "C'mon. Let's go home." A previously raging Bakugou's expression softened at her carefree demeanor. Geez, this girl.

"Fine, whatever."

And so, without much disruptions, they walked back home, with L/n's excited chattering filling the evening air.

"So!" said L/n, plopping onto her bed lazily, her phone stuck close her ear as she dried her wet hair with a towel. "Midoriya-kun, what did Katsuki-kun do exactly?"
