Chapter One: Death.

am I... dead?

That's probably a question you don't wanna ask yourself over and over again on one day. It makes me sick but I think I can finally be free— though where am I? This isn't heaven, nor hell or the purgatory they spoke off. I just feel light, I feel like I'm slowly dropping down into the bottom of a lake or an ocean.
I held my breath even though it didn't actually feel heavy, I felt like I could breathe but my instincts still made me hold it.
My eyes scanned the darkness, I couldn't see anything else, not even a glimpse of light that will indicate that this was indeed.. the afterlife.

How did I get here? ❞

I opened my eyes, the sun beamed in my room, the window opened.. Probably from my mother snooping around again. Though I hated it, I never said anything— it wasn't my place.. I groaned, sitting up and picking up my phone. My eyes scanned the sunlit room, sighing.

"I'm gonna miss this place." I sighed out, humming a soft tune as I scrolled through my phone. My notifications were blowing up, I cracked a smile.. Amused that someone actually cared? but I don't think this is enough to keep me here. I got up, not even bothered to change out of my hoodie and jeans. I did, however, manage to slip on some shoes.

"Ah.. My last day." I mumbled to myself, stepping out of my room and into a colorful looking hallway. I stared at in disgust.
At least I won't be seeing this monstrosity anymore.
I was still so tired but I still got out of the house, into the back and shimmied myself in between the trees outback.. I looked back at our old house, saying one last goodbye before finally loosing sight of the blue roof that I grew up with. A low chuckle escaped my lips, Things weren't gonna change once I leave.. Majority of the people at school hated me, My family didn't care about me and I had nobody else to turn to.

Finally I halted, the wind brushing through my face, my eyes felt watery from the memories that seemed to be flooding into my mind.    "What's this?" I chuckled out. "Final regrets?" I asked myself as I looked down at the edge of the cliff, a dried out lake just below me. I laughed out loud, my lungs actually hurt making me stop. I looked up at the sun, staring into it before turning around and letting my body fall.
I felt my phone slip out of my pocket, with eyes closed I just let the sweet freedom of death take me into it's arm. And then...

❝ HEY, YOU SILLY GIRL. WAKE UP. YOU HAVE CHORES TO DO!

I gasped, waking up as I felt my face get splash with cold water. I looked around for a towel maybe or a piece of clothing and when I did, I couldn't help but snap at the person.
"HEY! WHO THE FUCK DO YOU THINK YOU ARE?!" I yelled angrily and I just received a hard smack on the head, I never wanted to hurt anybody so bad!
I glared, and staring at me were a beautiful pair of baby blue eyes but they weren't that beautiful, since the person who owned them were glaring them at me. I gulped, looking around and then reaching to touch my body and face.

How am I alive?

Where is this place?

Who.. is this woman? I then stared at the woman again, Her hair had grays poking out, wrinkles and a stupid look on her face.. I sneered. "Who are you?" I asked when I finally got back my voice.

"Who am I?" The woman scoffed and with another swing, She slapped my face. "I don't know what you are playing at girl, but you are late and You have a busy day today!" She screamed in my face before getting up and leaving through the door. Again, I was awestruck. I blinked a few times before shaking my head, I was in disbelief. This wasn't my house, that woman wasn't familiar to me and my last memory was dying—

My eyes grew wide, I just.. died, haven't I? I slapped my face again and it burned. I was very conscious right now, this couldn't be a dream— was I reincarnated already?

No...
    No..
No.

That shit couldn't be real! That did not exist! It's not real, This must be a dream. But why wasn't I waking up? I NEED TO WAKE UP.

"ELLA. I swear to— You better be dressed and ready or else!" The woman screamed from below, followed by hard taps on the floor by a broom, I assumed. My name wasn't Ella.

I got up, looked around and saw that I wore a raggedy old night gown, which I stared at with disgust. I walked to the closet, This person had a pair of brown pants so I put them on, slipping on a button up also.. It had a lot of stains but it'll have to do for now, I also saw a cap so I put it on to maintain my black hair.
I turned to my side, seeing a mirror and saw that I looked the same. I still had my green eyes, my dark skin and darker hair color.. I sighed out, hating the way I looked. I was mostly bullied for how I looked, my hair always got pulled or cut and the people in class poked my skin until it bruised and I did notice a bruise on my cheek, that didn't seem to disappear along with my life— but I was alive.

I just put the hat on and pushed open the door, running down the stairs and meeting with the woman from before.. She had her arms on her waist, her dress loosely fit on her and I just saw her still glaring at me.
"Ella, Why are you wearing trousers?" She questions, and I just shrugged. "They're more comfortable if you're just gonna make me do chores." and with a scoff, I turned away and I heard a small giggle and a light slap on skin which made me look over towards the sound and I met eye to eye with the most beautiful girl I have ever seen.

"Ella's acting silly today." She spoke, with the most angelic voice I have ever heard. I gulped, lightly shaking my head.

"She's a fool." Said the girl standing next to her, She had this snarky expression on her face, She huffed and turned to walk away. I looked back at the girl, Her eyes seemed to shimmer before she followed behind the other girl. "Okay Ella, go and do your chores." The woman said, gripping my shoulder.

"I'm sorry.. but what are they?" I asked and I felt her grip tighten.

                                  "Stupid girl." She snapped.
