Bella, Percy, and their companions hunched over the map on the table in the big house.
"Okay, we only have a week before the solistace." Annabeth started
"I'm more concerned with there only being four gems before getting to the Underworld and six of us." Bella said staring hard at the map
"Well other heroes have gotten out of the Underworld. I'm sure there is a way for us too." Annabeth said
"Ok if Luke or Clarisse had said that I might have been a bit more reassured. Please tell me you have been on a quest before, and you are not just going off of textbook knowledge." Bella said
Annabeth just turned red in anger.
"Luke does your dad know anything that give us an advantage to get out of the Underworld?" Bella asked
"Why don't you just ask your goddesses?!" Annabeth demanded
"I would never put my Goddesses in that position. They would be standing between us and two of the Big Three. Besides they don't interfere on quests lightly." Bella admonished
Annabeth huffed and focused back on the map.
"I'll check my room. I know he gave me some shoes when we went to Olympus maybe there was something else that could be of use." Luke said before headed to his room
"You're going to give your brother your gem aren't you?!" Clarisse demanded
"Once we find the bolt we send them ahead to Olympus and we figure out way to get ourselves out." Bella confirmed and Clarisse shook her head
"He'll get all the credit for this quest. You probably won't even get acknowledged." Clarisse tried to warn her
"I don't care about that, Clarisse. I care about getting my mom back. I care that the Gods will be too blinded by rage to see that the destruction they'll cause if they fight against each other." Bella replied as Luke ran back with a gift wrapped box
"I found this on my bed when I went in." Luke said and showed the Good Luck card on top
They opened the box and found teleporting dust but it was only good for two people as well as three pair of Hermes shoes. Annabeth was trying hard to look in the box but Clarisse kept angling herself in the way. Annabeth huffed and walked away as Bella, Luke, and Clarisse put the new gear away. Luke looked at Bella concerned.
"Alright we split up. You guys go for the Pearl at Aunty Em's Emporium and the Arch. We'll go for the replica of the Parthenon and the Casino. We'll meet up at the Hollywood sign and go into the Underworld together in five days. Do not be late. I will go in without you." Bella said
"Who made you team leader?!" Annabeth demanded
Percy, Grover, Luke, and Clarisse raised their hand. Annabeth scowled while Bella smirked. Percy, Grover, and Annabeth walked out of camp to catch the van that would take them to town. Clarisse prayed to her father and they ended up with a ride waiting for them, a large hippie van that made Clarisse nauseous. It took three hours to make it to a train station. They had to fight their way past a fury with her sisters from the Underworld but made it just in time. They rode the train as far as possible before taking a 16 hour bus trip to Nashville. Bella, Luke, and Clarisse took a tour through the Parthenon a couple hours before closing before leaving the bathroom window unlocked and climbing after closing time. The gem was in the headband of Athena and Luke calmly flew up there and got it. They were making their way to the entrance when the cleaning crew and security guards stopped them.
"Give us the lightning bolt and we will let you live." They said simultaneously
"We don't have it." Bella said staring at them hard
They all melted together and formed a Hydra.
"Find cover. Look out the middle one breathes fire!" Bella said before diving behind Athena
Luke and Clarisse got behind the pillars. Clarisse took out a sword and began cutting off its heads.
"NO! Clarisse, Stop!" Bella screamed but Clarisse manage to cut off all the heads as Luke cheered her on
The two were talking when Bella charged at them and yanked them towards the door.
"Don't just stand there. Run!" Bella said
"What do you mean? I just sliced up a Hydra. A thank you would be nice." Clarisse said in confusion
"You only made it worse." Bella said and fighting with the chains on the door
"How? Its dead." Luke said before hearing noises behind them
"You pissed it off. When you cut off the head of the Hydra, two more heads grows back." Bella said before summoning all of the water in the building to create a water wall as the blew fire at them
"Luke, can you bust that lock?" Bella asked
"On it." Luke said and began picking the lock
"Clarisse, I'm going to give you an opening. I need you to only cut off the middle heads that breathe fire." Bella said
Clarisse nodded and the moment Bella created a hole in her wall Clarisse jumped through with a war crew. Luke hurried and cracked the lock as Clarisse sliced through the two heads. Bella surrounded the stunned big lizard in a large water spire before of water. She suffocated the Hydra and it left behind a golden token that was rare and expensive. They race out of there before anything else could happen. They caught a ride who brought then to the trains stations to get on another train to Nevada.
"How did you know about the Hydra? We don't exactly cover theory at camp." Luke asked and Clarisse nodded
"I was determined to not let anything about me be a handicap. I refused to have any special classes that let others believe that I was a target to be bullied. I trained my Dyslexia and ADHD to the point where the problem is just not there anymore. I knew about this part of the world for as long as I could remember. I could see the monsters and my reflexes showed through everything I did. I studied everything from the language of Ancient Greek to the stories and legacies of the heroes and villains since before I could officially go to school. My mom was no wallflower she trained right along side me. She fought to support me in everything I do." Bella said as she rested her head back
"All of us have a story. We should get to know each other better. We have about 12 hours after all." Clarisse said
The three talked and laughed the entire way to Nevada.
