Chapter 3: Katie
It was raining when I awoke from my alarm blaring, the sky as gloomy looking as U felt.
“Mine as well get this over with.” I say to myself, and get up from my bed, making it up before I got ready for school. I plug my I phone into my speakers and turn on Lights by Ellie Goulding, so I can have something to listen to while I get dressed. When I walk into the bathroom, I decide that I was going to go with beach waves since the weather wouldn’t be good to straightened hair.
My hair is already wet and wavy from my shower before, so I just put some of my mouse into my hands and rub into my hair, I pin my bangs out of my face, and spray some hairspray so everything will stay in place.
I turn the knob to turn on the water and splash some water onto my face; I dry my face off and start to place on my make-up.
I grab my moisturizer and place a small amount onto my hands, massaging it all over my face and into my pores. After doing that I apply my foundation over that, loving how smooth and even it makes my skin appear. I take my blush and brush it onto my cheeks and temples, making my face look fresher. I apply some brown eyeshadow for a natural look and then put a thin coat of mascara over my thick blonde lashes. I grab the liquid eyeliner and put a thin line over my eyelids, liking how it made my blue eyes sparkle.
“There.” I smile satisfied with my face and hair.
Most people told me that I didn’t need make up that I ‘looked fine just how I was’ but I didn’t wear make-up for others, I wore it cause I liked doing it. Its fun and I could create different things from it.
I go back into my room and start singing rumor has it by Adele as I hear it come from the speaker.
“She, She aint real. She aint gonna- “I hum the rest as I put my clothes on. Thank God I got a cardigan and scarf to wear, cause from the looks of outside its pouring.
I put on my shoes; grab my purse and phone then turn to go downstairs, after turning off my light.
Once I’m downstairs I turn to go into the kitchen grabbing a banana and opening the fridge to get water, and a strawberry yogurt.
When I close the fridge I see a note from my dad hanging on it.
Katie, Hope you have a great first day at school. Your mom is sleep in our room, she told me last night that she wasn’t feeling that good, so please pick up some cold medicine for her, I’ll probably be home late tonight. I love you sweetie, be careful. Love, Dad.
I smile and take the note from the fridge placing it into my purse. “Love you too dad.” I voice to no one. I look to the clock and see 7:50 a.m.
Oh crap, I hurry out the door making sure that it’s locked for my mom.
I grab my keys from my purse and put the code into the garage, tapping my foot impatiently as it starts to go up.
I dunk under it as it gets halfway up, and unlock my car. I open the door and hop into the driver’s seat, putting the key into the ignition.
I back up out of my drive way, press the button for the garage and watch it go down before driving it off.
I put the address for the school into the GPS, and follow the directions it pulls up.
I unpeel my banana while I drive and eat it hungrily, the traffic of New York is no joke, and thankfully the school isn’t far from my home.
It’s about 10 minutes from my house, which with New York traffic is turning out to be about 15-20 minutes.
