The concert hall is still empty. Only a few people are hanging around the bar, on the other side of the room.
It's as if time was suspended before the music sets everything on fire, making our bodies buzz.
Going on stage must be exhilarating! I'd like to feel the crowd's enthusiasm, be overwhelmed by an extraordinary feeling.
But, for now, I'm alone and I feel like time is dragging.
I sigh impatiently.
Where the hell is he, dammit?
Matt's late. As usual! I've been working at Carter Corp for months now and he's never once arrived on time.
In spite of his bad timekeeping, we hit it off immediately, same with Lisa, who works at the reception.
Matt's a nice guy if you see past his bad timekeeping. Lisa thinks he's cute.
I'm not really attracted to him.
We get on well, which is preferable given that he's in the office cubicle next to mine, in the huge open plan office at Carter Corp.
I'm starting to know him too well to feel at all attracted to him. We spend too much time together for me to get any romantic ideas.
Much too charming, much too sexy. A chick magnet, in every respect.
But it was thanks to Matt that I got a ticket for tonight's concert.
I don't know The Nightmareden at all but, according to Matt, they're beginning to attract more and more people.
They met at high school and Matt's seen them evolve, from playing in the garage to small music venues like this one.
When Matt asked me if I'd like to come along...I hesitated. I was afraid of feeling left out. An unenviable prospect.
Ever since I got to New York, my social life has been almost non-existent. It was high time I got out.
In the meantime, I'm still waiting around for Matt.
If Matt doesn't get here quick, I may not go so far as skinning him alive... just tighten his shoelaces around his neck!
Um... the concert's gonna to start and he's still not here. He's the one that told me to come early! What on earth is he doing?
I sigh... This guy is bad news!
,,Hey, hello gorgeous!''
I quickly turn around to see Matt trotting towards me. As usual, he looks relaxed.
His dishevelled brown hair frames his manly face. As always, his eyes glimmer mischievously.
A small smile stretches across his lips as he looks me up and down.
With his hands in his jean pockets, he winks at me, then turns towards the person with him.
I smile back.
I never manage to stay angry with him for very long. Matt is one of those charmers who bamboozles you with the blink of an eye.
I shake my head, grumbling.
,,Hi! my name is Adam''
He holds out his hand, also smiling broadly
,,Pleased to meet you! my name is Kim. I guess you're the reason why Matt's late?''
,,Not at all, i refuse to be held responsible for his total lack of punctuality''
Matt looks away pretending to whistle innocently. I gave him a pat on the shoulder.
