Sinan had arranged for the company doctor to provide all of the employees with their flu vaccine, as was the normal annual arrangement. Healthy employees were after all more productive employees. Omer hadn't expected the new doctor however to cause such a stir amongst the female employee base however, even Koray had taken a few moments to appreciate the young doctor. None of this was of any importance to Omer though, not until he saw the interaction between Defne and said Doctor.
"Selim!" Defne had stopped in front of the doctor, a surprised look on her face.
"Defne?" The handsome young doctor smiled back.
Omer, standing outside of the room, watched through the window as his girlfriend and the doctor hugged one another. HIs headphones in his ear, as he finished up a call. "It's alright, don't worry, I'll handle the matter personally. Okay, okay." Omer pulled the headphones away, watching the scene in front of him with interest.
"How's it going?"
"I'm fine, what happened to you? Look at you!" The interest in Selim's eyes made OMer's blood boil.
Defne smiled, flattered. "Yeah. I missed you, you just disappeared and never called."
"Don't say that. We drifted apart when the distance got in the way, my Defne."
"Did he just say 'my Defne'? Was that a 'my' that came out?" Sinan paused next to Omer, watching the scene with equal interest.
Omer felt suddenly territorial, wanting to take control of the unfolding situation. Clearly this man had a past with his girlfriend, and Omer was known for his possessive nature. He needed to assess how much of a background the two had.
Defne looked at one of the employees getting her vaccine and smiled warmly at Selim. "You made it, you became a doctor?"
"You know I'm a go-getter."
"I know that, I do know that."
Selim reached out and grasped a strand of Defne's hair. "You used to have curly hair, where is it?"
Omer turned to Sinan in disbelief, the past confirmed, the way in which Selim didn't hesitate to put his hands on Defne made him tense. Sinan winced as he saw the dark look in Omer's eyes. "Maybe you should go in there and talk first before you do anything stupid?"
Thrusting his hands into his pockets, Omer nodded. "I think so too." Forcing a small smile onto his face, Omer strode into the room to stake his claim and see the young doctor off.
Pulling up next to Defne, he stood as close as he could to let the other man know that this particular girl was not in the marriage market. "Defne."
She smiled up at him. "Ah, Selim, this is Omer Iplicki. He's the boss around here."
Selim smiled pleasantly. "I know, I know. We're here taking care of the welfare of the employees." Selim turned back to Defne, Omer clearly not as interesting as the beautiful redhead. "I wouldn't ever have expected to see you here. It's such a great surprise."
"Right? It is."
Omer scratched his head uncomfortably, Selim turning to him. "Defne was my childhood sweetheart. But ignore the fact that we were kids, we were an unbelievable couple." Omer could feel the heat of anger rising, Defne coughing uncomfortably between the two men. "Then later, distance got between us, she moved away and we never saw one another again. But it seems that today was meant to be then."
Selim smiled down at her pleasantly and Defne nodded. "Yeah." Omer watched her, incredulous, she turned to him. "When he talks about childhood love, he means childhood stupidity. We were Anatolian Chamois, and he was the son of the water man."
