Hailee's P.O.V

It had only been a few days, and I couldn't get the words that my mom spoke out of my mind. Even now as I lay in bed, twisting and turning trying to find a comfortable spot.

When I woke up, the time on my phone was 2:30 am. It was clearly too early for my thought to be racing. I let out a yawn and turn over one more time but when my arm didn't wrap around y/n my eyes widen. My hands trailed all around the king sized bed for her but nothing. Her spot was even cold. She must of been gone for a while.

RING, RING, RING

I turn towards the nightstand, my phone ringing softly as the light shined brightly. When I picked it up, the bright light blinded me, unable to see the caller.

"Hello" I said in a groggy voice, rubbing my eyes to be able to see again.

"I need to talk to you" I heard the voice, and knew it was Selena. Seriously this girl can't leave me be.

"What do you want Gomez its midnight" I let out a sigh rubbing my eyes back to life.

"You really have nothing to say about this do you?"

"I do." I said, not bothering to play dumb. Selena was smart and I really wasn't in any mood for games. Its been a week since the conversation with my mother, and y/n's contract change. And my mother made good on her word.

Since then every single day was a torturous one, with recording, interviews, dance rehearsals for 'music videos' and so, so much more. Y/n was holding strong. She was tried, almost falling asleep as soon as her body hit the bed, but always played strong when I tried to talk to her about it. She would always give me the same, 'it's nothing i'm not use too' line with that smile that made my heart flutter. But this was the first time since then that Selena had reached out.

"I think" I cleared my throat, "I think that it has to do with Griffin and my mother." I tell her honestly. "Besides that, I can't think of anything else."

"So can I say this situation is linked to you?" she asked, her voice calm, but a hint of irritation and annoyance.

I sat back, resting against the head board. Of course she would bluntly say that out loud. She wasn't wrong, but it felt as thought another wound had been made. Seems like everything was finally falling out of place like a house of cards.

"Is that acquiescence?" I hear Selena say. I hadn't realized I'd gone a minute without saying a word.

Even now it took time, as my mouth would open but nothing came out. It was a struggle, trying to think of the right words to say and when I did I told her, "I have to discuss this with them first before I can reply to you." because of course I didn't want to admit to Selena that she was right.

"Before you appeared, it was hard to manage, but y/n never gave up. She also wasn't hurt. At least, the y/n, during that time was happy. After you appeared, her smile disappeared. She is either crying or living in an unstable relationship. Now even... even her most valuable dream, is about to be lost. And it's all because of you!"

Every single words Selena said was nothing but the truth. Y/n was happier, and more full of joy and energy. Her smile was brighter, and her eyes sparkled. I played y/n from the beginning but it was her that was pulling the strings. She was smart and talented and... I was making a mess of things while she picked up after me.
