Trying something a little new here. I own nothing except my OCs. Enjoy!
Some rather rough Hebrew words came out of the mouth of a man who was working on a computer, his pale eyes narrow. He was about ready to give up when something soft brushed against his leg.
He looked down and saw a beautiful tan and brown-black marbled cat wearing a wine-colored collar rubbing its face against his calf, before leaping up to take residence in his warm lap.
The man smiled and gently stroked the soft marbled fur as the team's pet curled up to sleep.
"Hello to you too, Jeanne." he said, feeling, more than hearing, the cat's purrs. He resumed his work with greater vigor.

"My dear Gathering, I hope you enjoy the great assortment of pain that I've left for you!" Luthor's high-pitched voice cackled over the speakers of the large warehouse that they were fighting in, as the villains slowly closed in.
"Ghost Bat! We're outnumbered!" Wonder Warrior yelled as he punched Nuclear Skull 20 feet in the air, only to be dogpiled by multiple Puzzler lackeys.
"Yeah, no kidding!" shouted Lady Lightspeed, knocking out Sergent Chill and General Recoil before being tripped by Reflection Fracture.
Above them, Megaman threw Wolfwoman to the ground, but he underestimated the canine-like lady as she rebounded back to him, snarling, "Going under, Megs." She then punched him in the face several times. Megaman may have been super-resistant to most physical punishment, but he wasn't invulnerable.
The only ones who seemed to be having any luck with their opponents were Osprey and Ghost Bat.
Osprey fought with Poison Sumac, though the creature was giving Osprey a run for his money, raining down blow after blow with his venomous plants.
The one called Ghost Bat saw all of this and more as he fought the Puzzler, the red- and purple-clad villain swiping at his nemesis with a long machete, though a well-timed punch broke his nose, halted his assault, and sent him to the ground.
Suddenly, a red-cloaked form broke through the metal wall behind the victor, startling Ghost Bat as he whirled around to face the danger.
Manhunter lay in the rubble, groaning.
Ghost Bat saw Banisher step through the hole in the metal wall, headed straight for the downed shapeshifter. But before Ghost Bat could do anything, a blue bubble surrounded him and lifted him off the ground. He saw that similar bubbles held the rest of his team, including Manhunter. Ghost Bat looked to the source.
"Ghost, we're outnumbered. We're get'n outta here!" Blue Beacon gathered the bubbles and took off, followed closely by Osprey.
As they left the warehouse, a turret was activated and aimed at the retreating Gathering. Only the awakening Manhunter saw it, and any warning that could have been given was lost when the turret fired, taking the entire Gathering with it.
