"5 minutes." giyuu muttered, tapping his fingers on the table nervously, trying to slam out the thought that he might have been stood up.
he had been seated for about an hour, waiting for kocho. biting his lip, he wondered if she had felt awkward about the situation.
maybe she thought it was just for training practice, nothing personal. to be fair, he didn't make it obvious that it was a date.
the thoughts replayed in his mind for what was about the hundredth time; what if she just stood him up? what if she didn't reciprocate his feelings? what if he would fail sabito's challenge?
suddenly, a thought occurred to his mind.
"damn it."
he hadn't given her his address.

okay shinobu, you can do this.
she took a step closer to the door, took a deep breath and reached out for the wooden door.
before she could knock, the door was swung right open, and standing right in front of her, not even a hand away was a fine male.
the two stared into each others eyes, shinobu's stomach lurched and she could feel her heart beating so fast, as if trying to escape through her throat.
ocean blue.
then, almost as it had been choreographed, the two turned away at the same time, both a hot shade of red.
"how did you find my house?" giyuu asked quietly. he sounded almost glad..
no, that's impossible.
"i met a very kind man, who somehow happened to know your address, tomioka-san."
"hmm." the male looked up in thought.
ara ara, how fine he looked like that. whenever he rarely showed any expression on his face, he looked like an angel.
"well, come in." he finally said, standing aside for her.

the house was small, but nonetheless cozy and homey. sitting in the middle of the room, was a blue kotatsu, lined with green-cushioned tatami chairs. centred on the table was a beige, lit candle.
"ara-ara, tomioka-san! it's so unnaturally organised." shinobu noted. even the butterfly mansion wasn't this tidy.
"i'm taking that as a compliment." giyuu said, sitting down on one of the floor seats. shinobu mirrored him.
"so.." shinobu said, accustoming to her atmosphere.
there was a vague scent, a smelling of freshness, like when a fan blew in your face, it smelt like that. it wasn't unpleasant, this scent was one of Shinobu's favourites. she couldn't quite put where it came from though.
they sat silent for a moment before giyuu turned to Shinobu.
"want to cook with me?" he asked.
"cook?"
"yes. we can make gyoza." (gyozas are basically fried dumplings, but they're specifically japanese.)
"sounds good to me!" shinobu replied.
giyuu led her out of the sitting room and into a more larger room. there was a dark brown counter, with a few bowls on top.
"i'll get the ingredients." he said, taking them out of a cabinet, and lining them on the table.
shinobu took the pork into her hands, walking past giyuu to get a knife, her hand brushed against his. they both looked at each other, then quickly turned away.
she chopped up the pork, while giyuu plucked the cabbage, and started to chop as well. the kitchen was filled with the sound of chopping.
twenty minutes passed by fast.
"ouch." shinobu muttered as she accidentally cut her finger.
giyuu turned from the vegetables, taking shinobu's hand into his. he examined the cut, opened a drawer, and pulled out a piece of cotton.
"luckily, the cut is not deep." he said, dipping the cotton with water, and dabbing it onto Shinobu's finger.
"arigato, tomioka-san." shinobu said, as she inspected the perfectly-lined plaster on her finger.
"be more careful." he replied.

the rest of the cooking was easy to make, and now, the 13 gyoza were neatly placed onto a plate.
they both ate quietly, until there was one more dumpling left. they both grabbed it with their chopsticks at the same time.
"mine." shinobu winked, as she quickly placed it in her mouth.
all of a sudden, giyuu leaned over and squeezed her face until the gyoza flew out, and he caught it with his chopsticks.
"mine" he winked at her red face, as he ate it in one bite.
shinobu was completely speechless, not able to utter a single word.
"stay tonight, will you?" he asked without emotion, then he left the table, and out of the room, only stopping to say "follow."
he was gone faster than she could slap him across his face.
