She inhaled, the smell of pine and fresh air filling her senses. As she exhaled, her eyes fluttered open, blinking a few times, adjusting to her surroundings. She burrowed herself further into the ferns, damp from the morning dew. Her toes digging into the rich soil beneath her as she stretched. She flipped onto her back, smiling as she peered through the under brush. "haven't seen you in a while ol' friend" she said gazing up at the old oak looming over her.

Silence...

She looked at the old oak frustrated.

"hmpf" was her answer to the trees lack of response "you'd think the least you could say is 'hi' to a friend who's been asleep for centuries"

Still nothing...

She stayed sprawled out on her back, watching the oak with curious eyes. "you could at least tell me why you woke me up?"

She heard it before she felt it, her pointed ears twitching in the direction of the howling wind. It encircled her in seconds, whipping her mess of hair in her face. The wind whispering in her ears as she spluttered, clawing the hair out of her mouth and eyes. The wind died, leaving her sitting on her heels as she glared at the old tree. "rude" she muttered under her breath, hitting one of the trees roots lightly.

The only response this time was the sounds of the forest awakening. It was as if the forest was sleeping with her, she thought as she stood, brushing the debris off her knees. Arms raised above her head, she hummed in content as she stretched her stiff limbs under the bright rays of the sun, shining through the arms of her friend, warming her chilled body.

She quickly realized why she had been cold, as she looked at her pale limbs. She was naked, completely exposed. She shook her head, as she walked to a near by puddle; of course the oak wouldn't have given her clothes, for he didn't understand the need for them.

She chuckled as she looked at her friend, the smile soon fading as she noticed her reflection. She studied herself, poking her cheeks, once round now sunken and her hair, a mess of white seemingly noted on her head, and her body that had lost all pigment, making it seem as though she had never existed in the outside world. She stepped in the puddle finished with her reflection.

Done sulking over her appearance she huffed, she needed clothes, or when night came she would surely freez.

Hearing the whistle of wind again she held her hair back closing her eyes as she waited for the wind to encircle her once again, when is never came she opened her eyes, realizing the tree was pointing to a large rock. With a smile from ear to ear she bounded towards the rock, eager to see what he left her.

Coming to the large rock she stopped, looking around until she spotted a pile of folded clothing. Reaching down she picked up the folded piece of clothing; a white blouse. That was it. She understood the old oak didn't understand this wasn't enough, but she put it on any way. She smiled happily when the blouse went past her knees.

She walked back to her friend, spreading her arms out and wrapping them as far around the trees trunk as she could. "thank you" she whispered."you wouldn't happen to know where the others are? Do you?" she asked resting her cheek against his trunk.

There was nothing but silence, the forest didn't even seem to be moving as she waited for an answer. When nothing happened, she sighed. "you're very quiet lately Alishan" She stepped back and watched him, there was something off. It was a gut feeling she had, and she intended to find out what it was.

She looked to Alishan one last time. She had no clue where she was heading, but she knew she wouldn't find the answers here, and set off towards the village where she would find her friends and fellow fae.

She knew she was lost, but she just didn't want to admit that to herself. She had circled where she thought the village was, she must have made a wrong turn she thought retracing her steps in her head. It was a pretty obvious thing that the village could be hidden with a powerful spell, but the only one who could do that was Alishan, and he didn't seem well enough to cast one.

Unless, she didn't want to think like that.

Shaking her head she continued looking around the area. Suddenly, the ground gave way and she shrieked as she found herself falling into a large dug out hole. Her cat like eyes quickly adjusting to the dark as she took in her state, nothing major.

She moved her legs to stand but quickly withdrew them when her foot touched something that wasn't dirt nor was it a rock. Quickly locating the object she let out a strangled sob upon realizing what it was. "no, no, no" she muttered leaning over the body, she could vaguely make what it was from the amount of dried blood covering the body. Tears filling her eyes as she knew whoever it was, was fae, she could tell from the unique scent it gave off. She watched in horror as she looked beyond the mangled body.

She had fallen into a mass grave, each body more mangled than the next, each one being fae. Some of their scents familiar and some not but she knew one thing for a fact.

This was her village. Her family. Her friends.

She let out a scream of heart break, her fangs bared as she hissed in pain. Oh gods, she thought. Her parents; a sob racked her body as she thought of her sister, she was too young. The sight was too much, bile burned in her throat as she leaned over and retched what little she had in her stomach. The smell beginning to sting her nostrils as she looked to the pile of defiled bodies, thrown half hazardly without a care.

"i have to know" she whispered to herself as she stood as if in a trance and began moving bodies aside carefully. The tears started all over again as she found who she was looking for, she had no clue of knowing how long she or anyone else had been like this, for a fae's body to a long time to decompose before all the magic left.

She wept silently as she pulled her sisters body away from the rest tripping slightly as she tripped on another. she made a quick search and found what she was looking for, a small gold anklet; carefully she unclasped the gold chain and fastened it on her own playing with the small charm that bared her sisters name:

Mae.

Her ears perked up at the familiar howl of wind, but this time when the gust of air encircled her it wasn't friendly, and it definitely didn't give her a good feeling. The wind whipped at her stinging her exposed legs and face. This time when the wind talked to her it wasn't kind as Alishan had been, it seemed to be mumbling something she couldn't understand. As the voices got louder her eyes widened in fear, the wind was screaming at her, the voices of her dead family and friend yelling all at once. She couldn't understand, than all at once one voice rang out, Mae's. And it spoke one word, her name...

"Rory"
