Chapter 25

Ruby's pov

Nightmare

I wake up in darkness with my wrists above my head, they burn and my heartbeat begins beat fast as I know this pain and what it means. My back is brushing against the cold concrete wall behind me and provides me with the knowledge that I'm not wearing a top. I can't feel Crimson which means the Black Acid is strong in my veins. My sense are weak making it near impossible to see anything in this darkness, I can't even see myself when I look down but from the feel of it, I'm only in underwear and a bra. I close my eyes as I focus on my breathing, trying to prevent a panic attack.

A door slams against the wall making me gasp in shock at the abrupt noise disrupting the silence. A sinister chuckle erupts from somewhere in the dark and a shiver slides down my spine.

"Well, well. I see my little Tigress is awake" a male voice emits from the gloom.

I gulp as fear crawls into my stomach as I recognise the voice, I expect what might be coming next. I feel his presence move in front of me and my breathing intensifies. His hand appears in my vision to the right of my face and he brushes his knuckles down my cheek, I flinch from his touch and less than a second later a resounding clap fills the room as a stinging sensation pulses on my cheek. The room fills with light and he is stood right in front of me, I stare at him with fearful eyes and try to shrink away. A smirk pulls at his lips as he grabs my hair in a tight grip and pulls me forward.

"Now, now behave. You wouldn't want me to have to use the punishments on you would you?" he whispers sinisterly into my ear before chuckling darkly.

I keep quiet and still as he pushes me back against the wall and presses his body against mine. It's then that I realise he's only in his boxers and a whimper sounds in my throat against my will. He growls and pulls away for me, it looks as if he might show me mercy and walk away but just as I let out a breath he spins around, brandishing a knuckle duster and he punches me in my left eye. A agonised scream pours from my mouth and he drops the knuckle duster as he pushes himself on me again, I try to keep silent.

End of nightmare

I bolt upright with a terror filled scream, analysing my surroundings, I've returned to my skin in my sleep, most likely due to the nightmare. I look around as I pant heavily and come to the conclusion that I am in a guest bedroom, in an Alpha house. I slide myself into the corner at the end of the bed, my fear pushing me to find a place where I'm least vulnerable. Barely seconds later the door swings open, crashing into the wall making me jump in shock and momentary fear. Five people appear at the door all of which I know, Thorn, Sapphire, Seraphina, Raven and Rowan. Upon seeing Rowan I breathe a sigh of relief and without even thinking about it I scramble to my feet and leap on him, nearly making him fall over. I wrap my arms around his neck and my legs around his waist. He stiffens, not expecting this sort of a reaction from me, but after a few seconds he puts his arms around my waist and I place my nose in the crook of his neck, inhaling his scent to help calm myself down. I feel him start walking and then the creak of the bed as he sits down. He tries to pry my arms for around his neck but l hold on in a death like grip.

"Baby. Hay, it's okay. I'm here, let go. You're safe, I've got you" Rowan whispers in my ear softly, trying to soothe me.

I open my eyes and see that everyone else is still stood in the doorway, I release the grip I had on Rowan and pull back, glancing at him for a moment before looking down, the fear and pain still effecting me. Two fingers slide under my chin and tilt my head back up so I look into his mesmerizing green orbs.

"Ruby, baby, it's alright. Another nightmare?" Rowan asks looking into my eyes, searching for the answer.

"Yes" I whisper meekly.
