𝗜 𝘄𝗮𝘀 extremely excited when the clock was stuck at 12 am. Secretly, I expected Richard to be the first one to wish me however god seemed to have other plans cause he is the last one to appear in my room and what's even funnier is he wished my brother instead of me.
But it made me happy. He was cute while saying that.
I woke up at 7 am and of course, it was because of my mom otherwise I would have had a long long sleep.
Amma then asked me to get ready and go to the temple. I nodded to her and threw my lazy self out of the bed. Retreating from the restroom after refreshing, my eyes squinted at the silk green saree in which my mom was arranging pleats.
"Amma...is it for me?" She nodded her head and smiled. "Arjun mama's selection it is," I thought my parents brought me churidars or half saree and that's why I didn't even rummage through it. They usually purchase that kind of clothes so this was certainly unexpected.
"Hurry, I'll help you in draping it" she asserted and after a lengthy twenty minutes, we were finally done with it.
"Aish...you look too beautiful" she pinched my cheeks making me grin."Okay, now turn around, let me do your hair" oh no. "No amma, I will do it" she frowned at my words. "Aadhya, at least just this one day, let mom do your hair" she pouted making me emotionally melt.
"Huh amma, you know the right buttons to push" she chuckled and began to do my hair. I hissed when she pulled my hair too strongly. "Ammaa!!! It's hurting" she hushed me. "Sorry sorry" my face was showing off different kinds of expressions until she eventually completed doing my hairstyle.
Soo traditional, I must add. She had combed my hair back to the center and had clipped it with hairpins. Following it, she had braided my hair by taking four pleats.
I brought the braided hair to my front and glimmered looking in the mirror. I love this. "Thank you ma" she smacked on my head. "Don't" she faked anger and I pouted while carefully rubbing the area in my head where she had thumped.
"Amma, did dad get ready?" She again smiled. "For what?" She lifted her eyebrows making me visibly grimace.
"Then with whom I'll go to the temple?" She hummed placing the comb on the dressing table."Richard.." with that she walked out of my room. I grinned and stood up from the stool.
I hastily put on my earrings, kajal, and bindi then without wasting any second, I rushed to Richard's room.
He was wrapped up in the blanket...huh see how he is sleeping peacefully without having any guilt for not wishing me a happy birthday.
I tapped on the blanket and a groan was released from under it. "RICHARD!"I yelled and the blanket was removed abruptly from Richard's body. He then looked at me from top to bottom like this is the first time he is ever seeing me.
"Wow," he muttered in amusement. "Oh no, Happy birthday Aadhya" he extended his hands and yanked mine to his for a handshake. I wanted to smile and pull both of his cheeks, at the scared and nervous facade of him but I decided to play with him.
"Why don't you go and say this to my brother once again!" I retracted my hands from him and he gave me a sad look.
"I'm really sorry--that's okay Richard, now get ready, we are going to the temple" I spoke and he smiled. "Just we two?" I narrowed my eyes at him and merely nodded my head at his question.
He offered me a toothy smile before hopping out of the bed and sprinting to the restroom.
I blushed, cupping my cheeks with my hands.
I'm soo loving all this!!
I waited for Richard to arrive in the living room, gawking at the interior embellishments. The mansion was literally shimmering with all those balloons, lights, and some kind of stones that was embedded in the wall.
"Let's go?" I stared at Richard who was standing in front of me. "I don't know what to say, Richard. Everything looks perfect today" I allowed my eyes to roam around the living room.
"It's your day Aadhya" he blurted out and forwarded his hands to me. I placed mine on his and smiled. Hearing a clearance of the throat, we darted our view to peek at my dad who has his hands folded before his chest.
"Hurry and return soon," he said sternly making both of us nod our heads busily.
We both went out of the mansion and Richard got in the car with a sigh. "I guess your dad knows about us," he spoke while I plopped myself in the passenger seat.
"Yeah.." I bit my lips to resist the smile that was about to spread on my lips.
The car ride was silent with both of us stealing glances at each other occasionally.
As we reached the temple, I asked Richard to remove his shoes and he blinked at me before glancing at the number of slippers outside.
"Done" with that he discarded his shoes while I undid my slippers. We entered the temple simultaneously and we were mesmerized by the sunlight that flowed across the temple, grooming it aesthetically.
Richard followed my every move as I clasped my hands together to worship god. When I opened my eyes, the panditji lent me the pooja leaf which carried vermillion, sandalwood, and a string of jasmine flowers.I swirled around to stare at Richard, his eyes were closed, hands clamped together, he appeared more handsome.
"Richard" he slowly parted his eyelids and doubtfully stared down at the leaf in my hands.
"Jasmine?" He questioned with a frown. "Yes, these are used for god's early morning pooja. Therefore, these jasmines will be given to the few people that arrive earlier until it is over" Richard nodded his head, processing my words.
After worshipping all gods in the temple, we sat down in one place. Looking down at the jasmine string, I grabbed it in my hands to spot it in my hair but Richard was quick to stop me.
"What happened?" I squinted my eyes at him. "May I do it?" He pointed to the jasmine in my hand and my hair. "Um..yes Richard" he grinned getting hold of the flower and fixing it in my hair with the help of hairpins.
"Wonderful" He smiled peeking at my face from behind. I couldn't help but blush.
